After losing the first game of
the series by a close 3-2 score the
Clinton Lions Midgets walloped
their opponents 11-6 right in Mit-
chell. There was no question of
the outcome right from the start
with Clinton taking a 6-0 lead by
• the fourth inning and coasting a-
long from there. Hugill pitched
one of his better games allowing
seven scattered hits and striking
out nine. Coveney Mitchell's ace
WaS punutelled for -15 safeties. He
struck out four.
• Bob Garon's big bat paved the
way for Clinton as he collected a
triple, double and two singles in
. five times at .bat. Coveney had
three hits in three official appear-
ances to lead his team,

Both teams had to fight from
behind in the third game to stave
off elimination but it was Clinton
who had the toughest battle. The
local team trailed by two runs,
going into the seventh but man-
aged to push a run across in both
the seventh and eighth to tie the
score before darkness halted the
game. Coveney's wildness gave.

Weekly Jitney
The weekly- mixed bowling jit-
ney of the Clinton Lawn Bowling
Club was held on Thursday night,
with a large attendance. Winners,
in order, Were '3. Manning, with
two wins plus 12 and an aggreg-
ate of 23; Mrs, C. Veinier, two
wins plus 8, and an aggregate of
23; J. Lovett,two, vyins plus 7, ag-
gregate of 21;,'Elnier Murray, one
win plus 8, aggregate ' of 23.
The Ladies' Club tournament,
which was rained out last Wed-
nesday, will be held in the form
of mixed trebles -tournament on
Monday evening,., August 30, be-
gining at 7.30.,
W. Newcombe and Hugh Haw-
kins, Clinton, were among com-
petitors ,at the annual watch
doubles bowling tournament held
last Wednesday on the greens at
Seaforth. Watches were won by
George Hildebrand and Norman
McLean, both of Seaforth, and by
Thomas Xydd and H. Ross, Strat-
ford,

Meeting last Monday evening
members oi the Clinton Colts
(hockey) executive decided to ob-
tain a playing coach for the com-
ing season, It is expected that the
coach's name will be announced
after all arrangements have been
ironed out.
Interested in Clinton
The playing -coach in question
had made contact with a member
of the executive expressing the
desire to come to Clinton. Plans
for obtaining additional players
have not been made as yet.

Group Captain A. M. Cameron,
AFC, CD„ took over command of
RCAF Station Centralia last
Thursday from Group Captain W.
W. Bean, OBE, CD, who had been
Commanding Officer since Novem-
ber, 1951. At a special ceremony
and parade of station personnel,
G/C l3ean inspected the airmen of
the unit for the last time before
they marched past the dais where
G/C Cameron took the salute. As
well as RCAF personnel the .par-
ade included NATO pilot trainees
from England, France, the Nether-
lands, Norway and Turkey, who
are undergoing training at Cent-
ralia.
G/C Bean has been appointed
to the Directing Staff of the Na-
tional Defense College at King-
ston, Ontario,

Provision has been made for a
clock in plans for the new Court
House, Goderich Town Council
was told. Although no decision
.has been made on the type of
clock to be installed, Town Clerk
S. II. Blake told council he had
received quotations on' one type
Which would have chimes to strike
at quarter, half and hour intervals.
Mayor J, E. Iluckins said. that at
a recent meeting of file County
Council property committee, at
which plans were approved and
decision was made to call tenders
for the building, it was stated that
electrical outlets for a clock would
be provided at the north and south
ends of the building. Deputy Reeve
Joe Allaire said, "I think we can
be assured of the clock,"—Gode-
rich Signal -Star.
