-Paul Bauer, Waterloo, spent the
weekend with his parents, Mr. and
Mrs. H. Bauer. Mrs. Bauer's mo-
ther, Mrs. M. Heiser, Waterloo,
was also with them over the week-
end.

to Plymouth, Mich., after having

In Car' Mishap
On Night Drive

Paul Cleave is in Clinton Public
Hospital suffering from - shock and
compound fracture to his left leg,
above the knee, which he sustain
ed in an unfortunate automobile
accident, about' three o'clock on
Saturday morning +
Mr. and Mrs. Cleave, who had
been visiting their daughter,.�]VIrs.
E. Twentyman, Waukegan, I11., for
three weeks were returning home
accompanied by their two grand-
daughters, Vicky and Lynn Twenty'
man.. "Their son-in-law, Edward

bula in the former's cabin cruiser,
the "Nautilus", after having spent
a vacation with Mrs. Johnson's
parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. H. Or-
mond.
Mrs. Barbara Terribile, Detroit,
spent last week with her small son
at the home of. her -mother, Mrs.
Lucy Plater. Earl Martin, ac-
companied by Mr. and Mrs. has.
Plater, Jr., and three children,
Terry, Ricky and Debbie, Detroit,
came on Friday for the. weekend.
Mrs. Plater, Jr., and three child-
ren remained to spend this week
with her mother -hi -law.
Mr. and Mrs. Arthur. R. Ford
entertained at a family re -union
when for the first time in several
years, the four sisters and brother
in Mrs. Ford's family were all to-
gether. Present at this happy af-
fair were Mr. and Mrs. Wilson
Helwig, Mr. and Mrs. George
Woolway and children, Douglas
and Donna, Kitchener; Mr. and
Mrs. J. " L. Kingsborough, Mrs. A.
N. Knowles, London.
Friends in the village were sorry
to learn recently that Mrs. George
Morley (formerly Miss Gladys
Gale), Port Dover, had been in a
motor car accident several weeks
ago and sustained a broken collar
bone. She was returning from the
funeral of a • sister-in-law, with
other relatives, when the car in
which she was a passenger sud-
denly, went out of control. Mrs.
Morley was taken to Ross Mem-
orial'Hospital, Lindsay, where she
was a patient for some time.

Galveston, Texas, will be the spec-
ial preacher ',Id the anniversary
services in St. Andrew's United
Mr. and Mrs. L. H. MacLeod,
Dorothy Ann and Margaret, Mr.

Tama enjoyed a family picnic at
Formosa on Sunday.

family returned to Toronto and
Mrs. L. M. Burt to London the
end of the week after having
spent a holiday in H. Baker's cot-
tage on Main Street,
The ladies of the Church of the
English Martyrs are busy prepar-
ing for a sale of home-made bak-
ing and handicrafts to be held at
the summer home of Mr. and: Mrs.
H. Bauer on Friday afternoon.
Mrs. Cleave, E. Twentyman and
his two daughters escaped, luckily,
with minorcuts and bruises. But.
Paul' Cleave who had been sitting
beside the driver, was in some:.
unaccountable manner thrown
over and pinned beneath the steer-
ing wheel. It was twohours be-
fore he was extricated. Mrs. Cleave'
accompanied him in the ambulance;
to the Clinton hospital while Mr.
Twentyman and his daughters
went to the home of James Cleave.
It took Walter Westlake an
hour to get the car out of • the
gully, later in the morning. He
hauled the wreck. to J. Cleave's
farm.

at his father's cottage in Lake-
side Park.
Christening
In Trinity Church early Sun-
day afternoon, the small son of
Mr, and Mrs. John Townshend
was christened Paull Elliott. The
Godparents were Mr. and Mrs.
George Partington, Toronto. The.
baby's grandfather, the Venerable
Archdeacon W.A. Townshend, DD,
officiated at this service of holy
baptism. Following the service,
Mr. and Mrs. George Fry, grand-
parents of the infant, entertained
guests and served refreshments at
their cottage.
