Hold Last Meeting

Mrs. Don Crich was hostess of
the June meeting of the Tucker --
smith ladies' club was Mrs. Wil-
liam Pepper as president. The
rneeting opened with the ode fol-
lowed by; the Lord's Prayer. Roll
call was answered by 12 members
and seven visitors.
Mrs. Ernie Crich gave an inter-
esting talk of the places the ladies
tamed on the bus trip, for the
members that were unable to go.
Mrs. Christena Brown conducted a
contest.
The meeting came to a close
with a song and the Homemakers'
Prayer. Lunch was served by
group one. The meetings will be
discontinued until September 1.

London Road Club
Plans June t
The May meeting of the London
Road Club was held at the home of
Mrs. 1VIanaghan with' 12 members
and one visitor present. Tbe meet-
ing opened with the singing of
The Maple Leaf Forever" fol_
lovved by the club creed.
The minutes of the last meeting
Were read and adopted and the
correspondence was read. The roll
call was answered and the treasur-
er and flower convener gave their
reports.
The, mystery box was won by
the club visitor, Mrs. Robert Pad. -
dick. Several games af bingo were
played ana then a contest was
held which- was won by Mrs. Roy
Plunisteel,
Mrs. Collins and Mrs, Manning
conducted a successful plant sale.
The meeting closed with the sing-
ing of "God Save the Queen" and
a lovely lunch was served by the
hostesses, Mrs. Collins, Mrs. Cann
and Mrs. Managhan.
The June meeting will be held
at the home of Mrs. Cooper. The
roll can will be "How -names of
towns in our district originated."
Clinton Court
Magistrate D. Holmes conducted
court in the council chamber of
Clinton town hall Wednesday,
June 2. •
Charges against Stanley Scott,
were reviewed, and will be heard
on the morning of June 16. Ile is
charged with obtaining a car un-
der false pretences from McPher-
son Bros. garage, of passing a
worthless cheque at a general
store in Perth County, and another
to Glen Price here in Clinton.
J. 0, Tyndall, Clinton, charged
with operating his car while un-
paired by alcohol, pleaded guilty,
and was charged 360 and costs.
Charges had been laid following an
accident on Highway 8, at the
north end of Clinton, on May 25,
when his car struck a parked car
belonging to Mrs. Mary Necliger,
and also a hydro pole at the loca-
tion.
Lloyd S. Moore, Sarnia, charged
with causing a disturbance, by
shouting and swearing, was charg-
ed 315 and costs.
Kenneth Keyes, 18 years, plead
guilty under mitigating circum-
stances, to a charge of careless
driving on the Bayfield Road, May
11, and was charged $5 and costs.
Accused bad made a sudden left.
hand turn in front of another
vehicle, approaching in the op-
posite direction.
Stanislaus Smyth, member- of
the RCAF, plead guilty to a charge
of failing to renew his driving
license and another of exceeding
the speed limit, and was charged a
total of $22.80 and costs. A third
charge of careless driving was
withdrawn.
