No 12, Hullett Township, school choir sang in Ontario Street United Church on Sunday morn- ing, June 6, at their Sunday School anniversary service. Their num- bers were greatly appreciated. • Rev. Glen Eagle, Rev, Hugh C. Wilson and N. W. Trewartha were among those from this area who attended the sessions of London Conference..of the United Church of Canada, in Windsor last week. Rev. George A. Boyle, Toronto, who was the guest speaker at the Wesiey-Willis United Church an- niversary on Sunday last, wasa visitor at the home .of Rev, and Mrs. Hugh C. Wilson while in town. Mr, and Mrs. F. W. Andrews and Miss Lois Wood, Londesboro, were in London on Saturday at- tending Convocation at the. Uni- versity of Western Ontario when William Andrews received the, B.Sc. degree. The regular meeting of the Wo man's Association of Wesley, Willis United Church was held m the church '.parlor on ,'Thursday afternoon, June 4 with an attend ance of 30. -The president, Mrs G. Ileattle,was in charge; with Mrs Charlesworth at the piano. The meeting opened by singing the Woman's Association theme hymn The devotional exercises were as follows:. scripture lesson from Mark 12 (38-44) read by• Mrs. E Miller; :lesson thoughts given by Mrs. N. Trewartha and -Mrs. Wil fred Jervis led in prayer. A -hymn "We Give Thee but Thine 'Own" was sung. The min- utes were approved as read by the secretary, Mrs. M. Steepe. The financial .report was given by the treasurer, .Mrs. D. Bartliff, . Mrs. F. Potter reported for the flower fund. Notes ofthanks were read by Mrs. R. Jenkins. The manse report was given by Mrs. F. Fing- land. Mrs, Addison reported 11 home and two hospital calls made. ' It was decided to cancel the meetings for July and August but the president reminded the ladies to be preparing for the fall ba- zaar to be held October 23. . An interesting reading "The. Long View" ending with prayer was given by Mrs. Beattie. A hymn "Breathe on Me Breath of God" followed by the Mizpah benediction closed .the meeting. Lunch Was served by Mrs. W. Jer- vis and her group. • c Well Attended Presbyterian Thankoffering The Spring Thankoffering Ser- vice at St. Andrew's Church last Sunday morning was well attend- ed. Rev. D. J. Lane, B.A., con- ducted the service. The sermon dealt with the theme "The Chris- tianity which is God centred." A full choir sang the anthem, "The Lord Loveth the Gates of Zion", beautifully. The special solo- ist, G. Hyde, Goderich, made a fine impression in two 'selections, "The Lord is My Light". and "The Earth is the Lord's." The generoils thankoffering amounted to almost $600. Craig—Glousher (By our Auburn correspondent) A quiet but pretty wedding was solemnized at Knox United Church manse, Auburn, on Saturday, June 5, when Rev. C. C. Washington united in marriage Jean 'Glousher,.. daughter of Mr, and Mrs, Herb Glousher, R. • R,: 1, Auburn, and Thomas "Lloyd Craig, son of Mr. and Mrs. Stanley 'Craig, R. R. 3, Auburn. The bride looked charming in a frock of blue nylon over taffeta. with white accessories and an or- chid corsage. Mrs. Robert Gloush- er, sister-in-law -of the bride, was matron of honor and chose' a dress bf white flowered nylon with white accessories and rose corsage. Mer- vin Craig, Toronto, was his broth- er's groomsman. Following the ceremony a recep- tion was held at the home of the bride's parents which was decorat- ed with baskets of flowers, blue and pink streamers and white bells. For her daughter's 'wedding, Mrs. Glousher chose a dress of navy sheer with white trim. The groom's mother wore a blue dress. 'with white trim. Both wore cor-• sages of blue forget-me-nots and lily -of -the -valley. For a wedding trip to Niagara Falls, the' bride donned a grey and blue dress, blue shortie coat and white accessories. On their return they will reside on the groom's farm. Guests were present from TOron-' to, Owen Sound, Blyth and, Au= burn. • o .ti Ontario St. WMS Hears of Korea Mrs. J. Willis VanEgmond was hostess for the meeting of the On- tario Street United Church Wo- man's Missionary Society- held on Tuesday afternoon. Mrs. W. S. R. Holmes, president, opened the meeting with a hymn and prayer and the 23rd Psalm re- peated in unison. Mrs, G. R. Fear led in the devotional period. Her theme was "The Christian Hope" and she spoke of the request from Christian people for the world council of Churches which meets in August in Evanston, Ill. Mrs. W. M. Aiken read a letter from Korea from the missionary, Miss Ada Sandell expressing gratitude for parcels sent to the hospital at Seoul. The talk ' on temperance was given by Mrs. C. E. Elliott, who also gave a reading "Living is More than Skin Deep." Mrs, Tre- leaven and Miss Elva Wiltse gave two delightful duets. Plans were made for the enter- taining of the baby band and the mission band at the home of the president, Mrs, Holmes, in July. The invitations from the"Seaforth WMS were gratefully accepted and a vote of thanks was tendered by Mrs. Elliott and Mrs. John Rad- ford to the hostess after a dainty lunch. Mrs. Holmes closed with prayer, Wesley -Willis Anniversary Held Sunday. Anniversary services were held in. the Wesley -Willis United Church on Sunday, June 6. Rev. George A. Boyle, B.A,, B.D., archivist - historian of the United Church of Canada was the guest speaker. The Wesley -Willis choir and male chorus under the direction of Mr. and Mrs. M. R. Rennie provided helpful and inspiring music for the occasion. In the morning Mr, Boyle spoke of the early history of the Wes- leyan part of the present con- gregation. One hundred years ago the members of the Ladies' Aid ware successful in raising the sum of 1200 which was sufficient to pay for all the brick used in the church which was then construct- ed. Special -thanks were extended to Miss Irene Snider for thedisplay of art given by her at the bazaar and to all helpers co-operating in making the bazaar a success, "Flowers, when I'm 'dead,"`was the George Robere of ton, and one by Mrs. caption "The Gide Clay House" was given by Mrs. Farquhar.' Mrs. Shaddock, assisted by Mrs. Robert Scott and Miss Ann Shad - dock served 'dainty refreshments. SLIGHT ACCIDENT SATURDAY INVOLVES TWO AUTOS Early Saturday morning at about 1,40 a.m. a car being driven south on Victoria Street by Mur- ray Tyndall, R.R. 3; Clinton, was in collision with another ear driven by LAC G. R. Ross, Clinton, .pro- ceeding north. Considerable dam- age was done to both cars. Charges will be laid.
