Delegates of the teams of the parts of the group. ,
Huron -Perth Baseball League con- St. Marys and Strathroy will

of one year are again back in the
fold and are expected to field a
strong contender, Centralia. RCAF
and Seaforth, have decided to drop
out for this season.
Clarence Fairbairn, president of
the league, conducted the -meeting,

schedule are to start at 6.30 p.m,
with the exception of all Strathroy
home games which are all night
games.Other games that will be
played at different times are the
opening day games in Mitchell and

under way at 2.00 p.m. as part of

ficially open the Show, which will
be held in the Clinton Community
Park.
A parade is'being planned which
will include school children (all
pupils that take part receive
will
free admission to the fairgrounds).
Arrangements also are being made
for a parade and display of ma-
chinery, old and new, which will
include the little old fire pumper
so much in the news just one year
ago, in comparison with new equip-
ment.

Saltines finished the regular sched-
ule with a comfortable 12 -point
lead over thenew champions and
had defeated the third place Spit-
fires in the semi-finals.

SPRING SHIPMENT
JUST ARRIVED
Minor accidents occurred during
the past week, causing small dam-
age to three vehicles.
On May 5, a truck owned' by A.
Garon, and parked on the west
shoulder of Victoria Street near
McAlpine and Daw's garage, was
damaged, when the owner opened
the left door to get from the
truck, and a car driven by a Mr.
Jordan, RCAF Station Clinton,
struck the door.
Last Friday a car driven by
Stanley Vanstone, Goderich, turn-
ed out from a parking place on the
east side of Albert Street, prepar-
ing to proceed north, and was
struck by a car driven by Eustava
Bisback, Auburn, also proceeding
north.
A car driven by Marion Carter,
Matilda Street, from the laneway
at the rear of the post office, made
a too-wide.right turn into Victoria
Street, and was in collision with a
car driven by Ernest Crich, R.R. 3,
Seaforth, who was proceeding
north on Victoria Street. The fend-
er of the Crich car was damaged.
"B" Group Playoffs
Argos, Gay Deceivers, Biltmores
and Alley. Cats were the teams
finishing at the low end of the
standing and they played off for
the "B" group championship: In
the first round. Argos and Alley
Cats won their respective battles
both in straight victories. .Argos
then repeated the' performance on
Alley Cats and took 'the title.
Special Awards
Bert Harris, Argo captain, walk-
ed off with two of the most cov-
eted awards during t
he regular
play. 'He captured the men's high
single and high triple with scores
of 354 and 848. Ladies' high single
went to Marg Reynolds (345)
while Rae Biddle's 737 won her the
ladies' high triple.
Howard Grealis will received a
new wrist watch donated by -Vod-
den's Jewelry -for having the most
improved average aver the year's.

Last week we recorded the
sentence of a Mr. Boyce, Varna, to
seven days, as the result of a
charge of drunk driving. In error,
the first name was reported in-
correctly. The man he question was
Harold Boyce.

the folk living at the Huron
County Home. On April 20, the
Ladies' Community Choir, Hensel!
under the leadership of J. L. Nicol
gave a concert of music, and last
Sunday ,the Huronia Male Choir
Exeter, who are directed ley Mrs
H• L. Sturges, presented excellent
choruses and variety numbers. The
old folk very much enjoyed these
entertainments in music.
