Scouters Meet
To Iron Out
Minor Points
The Scouters of the First Clin-
ton Lions Group held their first
group council meeting on Monday
night in the office of the District
ommissioner, L. G. "Skip" Win-
ter. Scout leaders Bob Vezina, Bob
Mitchell and Ivan MacKenzie rep-
resented the troop. r Cub leaders
Tom Darling, Roy-F'aulkner, Ken
Cervantes,Doug Hardy, Dave
Biddle and Frank Ling were rep-
resenting the Pack,
It was arranged for the Cubs to
run a pop bottle drive on Saturday,
May 15, to try to raise funds for
another Cub hut. The Scouts are
going to have a coat hanger drive
On May 20 and 21 to raise money
for tents. Although the group is
attempting a rather ambitious
program this year it was agreed
that with the support of the town
people and the group committee
and the hard work and co-opera-
tion of the groupnleaders that the
objectives could be achieved,

The citizens of Clinton and com-
munity responded splendidly to the
effort of the Ladies' Hospital Aux-
iliary to Clinton Hospital in their
tag day of May 8.
The young taggers headed by the
committee in charge with Mrs. G.
F. Elliott convener (assisted by
Mrs. Douglas Bartliff arid Mrs.
Walter Newcombe) and drivers
Mrs. Lorne Brown, Mrs. Harry
Schellenberger, Mrs, Joseph Hart,
Mrs. W. Counter and Mrs. A. Ad-
dison, bright in a grand total of
$230.04 which was $100 of an in-
crease over last year,
Twentr-three girls and four
boys did the canvassing. Robert
Addison sold $50 in tags during
the day. The other taggers help-
ed swell the total, and were Doug-
las Macaulay, Barry Elliott,
Wayne Ebbet, Gloria Cooper,
Gloria Rumball, Mary Ann New-

will be on June 7 at eight o'clock
in the evening in the Londesboro
Community Hall.

staff, showed three informative
films. Also, the young folk have
decided to take an educational bus
trip to Hamilton and Wentworth
County on Saturday, June 12.

Miss Barbara Middleton has had
the signal honour of being chosen
Valedictorian for this year's grad-
uating class at Teacher's College,
Stratford.
Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Middle-
ton attended the annual spring
sale of the Western Ontario Ab-
erdeen -Angus Association held last
Saturday afternoon at the farm of
Thomas Patrick, M.P.P., Ilderton.
Following the- sale they and many
other Angus enthusiasts met at the
Knotty Pine Inn, London, for din-
ner.

day afternoon, May 5, at the home
of 1VIrs. Ray Wise with 19 ladies

The president, Mrs. John Middle-
ton, conducted the meeting. Fol-
lowing the members' prayer and
the Lord's prayer, the scripture
reading was given by Mrs. McCul-
