Mr. and Mrs. Lorne Brown have returned from a month's holiday in Florida. Mrs. Annie Venner spent the weekend in ' Hamilton with Mr. and e Mrs. J. Fotheringham. Mr and Mrs. Albert Leibold .and family called on the Leibold family at Zurich on Sunday last. `. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Cox spent the weekend with Mr, , and Mrs. Glen Lockhart, Owen Sound. Mrs. Charlies Brandon had a party Saturday evening in honor of her father, Perry Plumsteel's birthday. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth M. I WILL MEET TUESDAY The Women's Missionary Society of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church will hold its meeting' on Tuesday afternoon, February 16 at three o'clock, at the home of Mrs. D.J. Sut- ter, Guelph visited on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs, R. P. Robbins and family, Acton. On their return they were accompanied by J. A. Sutter, who had spent last week in Toronto and Acton. Archie Robinson, Albert street, was in Toronto last weekend hav- ing gone to attend the graduation exercises in the Royal York Hotel, of his nephew, John Archibald Phillips, son of Mrs. Phillips and. the late Orville Phillips, Mitchell, who is one of this year's members of the class for Chartered "Ac- countants. He also attended the Ice Follies on Friday night and the hockey ga]ne Saturday night and had a visit with his brother and his wife, Mr, and Mrs. Frank Deputy Reeve Melvin Crich was in Toronto' last Week attending an executive meeting of the Ontario Barbers'' Association. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Leibold and family and Mrs. Thomas Lepping- ton called on Mr. and Mrs.' Roy F. Leppington and family last Sun- day at Brucefield. H. E. Y • 6-b Girls' Club Bears Talk by Mrs. Sall The regular monthly meeting of the Girls' Club of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church was held in the basement of the church and was opened' by singing a hymn. The scripture was read by Elva Mutch and the Lord's Prayer was repeated in unison. Joan Hoggarth introduced the speaker of the evening, Mrs. Reg. Ball, who gave a much enjoyed resume of the book "People of the Deer". The appreciation and thanks of the club was expressed by Bernice Henderson. Ann Shaddock read the secre- tary's report and in the -absence of the treasurer, Verna Morgan, the treasurer's report was given by Elva Mutch. It was moved to paint the kit- chen and small room in the base- ment of . the church. Madeline Mutch was appointed to fill the vacancy as chairman of the pro- gramme committee. With Marg. English in charge, plans were made for the Valentine tea to be held in the church on Saturday, February 13, and committees were chosen to take charge of the dif- ferent departments. A minute of 'Silence was observed in memory of one of the most faithful and valued members, "Phame" Morgan, after which Mrs. Lane offered a fitting prayer. As one of the members is leav- ing this vicinity, Mrs. Lane, on be- half of the club, presented a gift to Audrey Knight, who, quite tak- en by surprise, thanked one and all for their well wishes. With the singing of a hymn, and repeating the Mizpah benediction, the meeting was closed. A delic- ious lunch was served by the host- esses, Betty Sims, Jean Anderson, Joan Hoggarth and Clara Mac- aulay. It was decided to have the East- er thankoffering on March 31 in the afternoon at three o'clock with Mrs. Newnham, Harriston, as the guest speaker, with the Wesley - Willis and Turner's Church ladies invited. The supply secretary, Mrs. Sly, asked for donations of children's clothing; for the March meeting. Miss H. Courtice gave a good stewardship talk on 'Love in Ac- tion". Chapter five of the study book was ably reviewed by Mrs. Gilbank and chapter six took the form of a playlet given' by Mrs. Fear, Miss Sybil Courtice and Mrs. Townsend. The world day of pray- er was announced for March 5 in St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church for three o'clock. After supper the regular lar meet ' ing was held with the president, Mrs. George'Beattie, in charge. The. scripture lesson was read by Mrs. Egan. Lesson Thoughts giv- en by Mrs, J. A. Addison and Miss Davies led in prayer. Mrs, B. Sutter and Betty Lou Nediger accompanied by Mavis Steepe sang "I Shall Not Pass This Way Again", which was much enjoyed. ` The conveners of the various de- partments gave their reports which were accepted and approved. Mrs. N. W. Trewartha as speak- er, gave a most interesting and: humorous account of trips- she has had to the western provinces. Mrs. W: Jervis gave a reading "Cabel's Courtship". The president thanked all those who had con- tributed to this successful evening. The meeting closed by repeating the Mizpah benediction. The ,devotions were in the charge of Edna and Roy Wheeler and the meeting opened with a call to worship followed by the hymn 'Break Thou the Bread df Life". The scripture was taken from St. John 14 :1-8. A prayer was given followed by the reading of several poems. This period of the meeting closed with the hymn "Softly and Tenderly Jesus is Calling". Notes of thanks were read from Helen Finck and Maxine Aiken. The newly purchased book "Games and Parties the, Year Round" was reviewed. Mrs. Pauline Jessop was initiated into the order. Plans were finalized for the auc- tion sale to be held in the Council Chambers on Saturday, February 20. Through the courtesy of RCAF Station Clinton and R. S.
