Plan Year's 'Events
The January meeting of the
Happy Workers Club met at Mrs.
Garreds lacane with 12 members
and five visitors present. The new
executive was in charge and the
meeting opened by singing "When
You and I were Young Maggie',
followed by the Lord's Prayer The
secretary's and treasurer's, reports
were given.
Roll call was answered by 12
members paying their fees. Two
thank -you notes were read.
The program consisted of a
reading by Mrs. Brown; a contest
conducted by -Mrs. Bert Garrett; a
reading by Mrs. Kenneth Williams
and a contest conducted by Mrs.
Newman Garrett,
The February meeting will be at
the home of Mrs. Bob Irwin with
roll call to be answered by "A
Childhood Memory". The lucky
Prize was won by Mrs. Jack Smith.
The meeting closed with "God
Save the Queen'i! followed by,lunch
served by Mamie Glazier, Irene

The Woman's Missionary Soc-
iety of Ontario Street United
Church will hold its meeting on
Tuesday afternoon February 9, at
half past two in the lecture room
of ' the church. Mrs. J. Gilbank
has charge of the study book and
Miss H. Courtice the Christian
Stewardship. The worship service
will be taken by Mrs. J. Van-
Egmond. This roll call is to be ans-
wered by a verse containing the
word "Love." This meeting takes
the form of a Valentine Tea and
a cordial invitation is extended to
all the ladies of the congregation.

Plan Unit Study
The January meeting a the Clin-
ton Unit of the Federation of
Women Teachers' Association of
Ontario was held in the Clinton
Public School on Wednesday even-
ing, January 20.
The teachers decided to study the
topic ''What Factors Identify A
Successful Teacher?" Each mem-,
ber was urged to come to the Feb-
ruary meeting prepared to tell
about a successful teacher who had
exerted a lasting influenece upon
her during her school days.
Mrs. G. Jefferson very ably gave
an interesting account of the Hur-
on County Museum located in God-
erich,
Miss Margaret Holland, accom-
panied at the piano by Miss June
Miller sang in her usual pleasing
manner.

Bride-to-be Feted
By Friends
Mrs. Warren Gibbings was host -
es on Wednesday last, for a shower
for Donna Fowler. In spite of the
stormy weather 30 friends of the
bride-to-be were present.
Mary Tyndall was chairman for
the evening and the program was
started by Jayne Mary Snell sing-
ing "Serenade of the Bells" accom-
panied by Mrs. Snell. Dorothy
Williams gave a comic reading en-
titled "Toby". Elaine Ball and
Betty Anne Gibbings played a
duet. Vera Glazier conducted a
contest, "Advice to the Bride" and
Wonnetta Holland and Jeanne Dol -
mage sang "Will You Marry Me?"
Mary Tyndall conducted two con-
tests and Marie Dale played sev-
eral popular piano selections.
Jayne Mary Snell sang "Bless
This House" and Mrs. Gibbings
spoke a few words of blessing for
the young couple. Dorothy Will-
iams read the address and Donna
who was seated in a gaily decorat-
ed chair, opened the gifts. After
Donna had thanked the ladies and
the hostess, Mrs. Snell and Jayne
Mary led a sing -song. Lunch was

Airman Asks For
Leniency; Wishes
To Continue Work
Being held in close custody by
authorities at RCAF Station Clin-
ton following apprehension last
Sunday night, a 20 -year old air-
man. asked that he be allowed
to continue with his course at
the school. The magistrate ex-
tended his compliments to the
Commanding Officer at the sta-
tion, and suggested that leniency
be shown.
Held on a charge of theft, the
young man in question and a
companion had been detained
following a struggle at Stan's
Lunch and Taxi, when John St-.
anley and an employee, Glen
Price heard the cash register
ring and ran into the office to
find him holding $35 in bills.
Since certain information was
