Concerning The iectirc,
Dear Editor;- ~~
9s sevtral have asked me what
T. thought of,and how I liked Dc', kTall's
lecture, may be some others would
like to know how I answered or
would answer such questions -hence
these few lines.
In the first 'place, I have little or
nothing, by way of argument, to say
to those who berate and denounce the
ministers of the churches as men of
"unbalanced minds", as "biding the
key of knowledge from the people",
and holding up Mr, Russell as the num
to follow in the interpretation of God's
word,
I venture to say there are hundreds
of intelligent laymen in the churches --
to say nothing of the thousands of
ministers, who are as well versed In
the original as Mr, Russell ; and, by
the sway, ,lust as "honest thinkers"
who are not in harmony with him in
his interpretation. And, 1 ask, who
are themen whom God has used, and
is still rising in the salvation of lost
sinners, and in spreading the Gospel
in all lauds but the men who are etig.
matized as holding the truth from the
people; •
And these are the men who preach
the old gospel of unconditional ire-
mortality and eternal punishment as
taught by Jesus Christ.
That's all 1 have to say.

Thrilling ling Rescue Prom Drowning at

Boy.
Goderieb, Sept. 0. -While bathing,
in the river at the C P. R. abutments
yesterday, Willie Thompson, the 7-
year•old".son of Virilliann Thompson,
blacksmith, nearly met his death. Ile
started' out in seven feet of water to
cross to the other side. Finding it too
far he turned back. He became ex-
hausted and sank.
He was nottced by Bruce Noble, and
Bob Clark, two by
scouts. lin.
mediately the scout instinct, "to help
the other fellow" came, to their mind
and they went after him. Noble who
reached him first pulled under by the
struggling boy, but managed to fres
himself and caught him from behind,
With Clark's assistance he was pulled
ashore. Great eredit is due to the
boys for their presence of mind, Ib
likely they will be presented with the
scout life-saving medal,the highest
honor a; scout can have,
