& serious accident was narrowly
averted on the river here. last Thurs-
day night, when the motor boat of
Mr. Manion. Longboat, ran into a row-
boat, containing women and children.

We were pleased to see Mr. Lee out
again, and soon he will be able to at-
tend to his business and hotel as usual.
Frightened by the snapping of the
breaching of the harness, a horse
-driven by Charles and. James Vivean,
of this. place, who were delivering
goods In the district Saturdaynight
dashed down the road, throwing the
two out as it plunged down a hill.
Both were bruised severely. Charles,
who clung to the reins and was dragg-
ed same considerable distance, was
battered up especially, but nothing
serious is anticipated. But this was,
not all. Continuing in its road career,
the infuriated horse crashed into, an
approaching carriage containing Mr.
and Mrs. William Walters of the
township,throwing the two out and
i
resulting n the breaking of three ribs
on the part of Mrs. Walters. Both
rigs are practically total wrecks. De
Whitley, of Goderich, was hurried to
the scene of the accident and accord-
ing to the latest reports all are pro-
gressing favorably.
