Accident During
Practice.
Seaforth, August 19.- Tommy Blues
son of Thomas S. Blues, of this town,
was shot and almost instantly killed
at the butts here this afternoon.
During rifle practice of the cadets
young Blues, who had taken the place
of the regular scorer, had registered
an outer for one of the cadets, who

THOMAS JO;HNSTOK DEAD.
By the death"ou Tuesday of Thos. D,
Johnston, Clinton loses one of its most
useful citizens and one of the oldest
residents. Although tont 57 years of
age, Mr, Johnston had lived almost
continuously in the town, having been
born but a short distance from the
corporation limits. Ns was one of • the
leading ('onsery,,tic nd thorouphiv
conversant with alt able natters.
He acted as returning otlicer for the
new
riding Centre Huron,
daring
the facet election. He was also a
prominent charter -member of the
0,0. F. Ile was connected with the
hardware business of DAVIS ROW -
land, for about' 80 years, and '1:m(1-
char a of the mechanical department.

Chas. Cole, ooe of the old settlers in
Goderich :Township, and, leaves a
family of sons: Rev. Clarence, who' is
preaching in the West; Bert, a public
school teacher, and Will, who lives at
