The work that is being done by the
horticultural societies throughout the
Province has so met with the approval
of the Government that the yearly
grant to each society has been in-
creased to $110, which is 850 more
than formerly. Such encouragement
on the part of the Government should
lead to a greater interest locally in the
work of further beautifying.

in the Apiary of Mr. Isaac Dodds,

DEATH OF GEORGE BAWDEN.
Mr. George Bawden, one of London's
oldest contractors, died is the Victor-
ia Home for Incurables _last Friday
after an Illness extending over some
mouths Deceased was born in Meek
Torrington, England, (36 years ago,
and came to London in 1969, He learn-
ed his trade here and later went to
Buffalo, where he resided 2S years.
Be came back to London some years
ago, and had resided ever since. De-
ceased was a life member of St.
George's Society, of Forst City' Lodge
of Oddfellows and of Buffalo Mason-
ic lodge. Fie was never married. Mr,
W. P, Bawden, of Braunton, Devon-
shire, England, is a brother; Miss M.
G.. of Plymouth, and Mrs, Curtis, of
Exeter, sisters; Mrs. A. J. Bowden, 01
Toledo, and bars. K. Bawden," of
Clinton, are sisters -in law. The Tuner.;

Mount Pleasant Cemetery, from
