cedure. For many years, past it has
had as the chief speakers at its even-
ing meetings distinguished edueatiors
from abroad. While these visitors
have been cordially welcomed and
while 'their remarks have been much
appreciated, the Assoeiation has de-
cided to give this year the places of

The Venerable Archdeacon Cody of

Principal MacIn tyre of the Winnipeg

from the Western Provinces and will

Mr, Peter McKey, of the fifth con-
cession, recently sold to a gentleman
in Staffa a bandsonee 20 months old
Darham hull. This animal was a spec-
ialty good one, recl in color and very
finely bred, and Mr. McKaY received a
good figure for him.
The Late Mrs, Elder. -Ib is with
deepest regret we make mention of the
death of Mrs. William Elder, formerly
of Tuckersrnith, who passed peacefully
away at the home of her son -in
Mr. Andrew Moir, in Usborne, on Fri-
day last, at the advanced age of 81
years. eihe had been in declinieg
health for some weeks past, but none
thought the end so neat'. She bora
her sufferings with the greatest Ohist-
ian fortitude. She was much respect-
ed and. beloved for her kindey deeds
and many amiable qualities, She emis
seated to this country with other
members of the family, settling en
Hay township, where she endured all
the hardships of pioneer life. Mrs,
Elder's maiden name was Helen Shit,
ray. She was married Weber late hus-

DEAT.4 OF MRS, STEWART
On Sunday March 24, at the home of
her daughter, Mrs. Walter Townsend,
of Brantford, Mrs. Stewart, formerly
of Victoria Street, Clinton passed
away. She had been ailing ail winter,
and latter part of Unitary visited
Clinton thinking the change might
help her. The first few weeks she im-
proved in strength but the I ist week
of February, she contracted a cold,
which in her already feeble condition
proved more tha:a the could with
atand. Returning to Brantford' the
first week in March she gradually
weakened and on Wednesday the 20th
nit. Symptons coma presented
which continued to intensify till Sun-
day the 20,h of March, the cloud lifted
and she awoke in the Brighter World,
Mrs. Stewart will be remembered by
many old friends for her cheerful kind
disposition. Some from this vicinity
attended her funeral in Brantford to
Mount Hope Cemetery. She leaves
one daughter, Mrs. Walter Townsend
to mourn the las of an affoetionate
mother.

On Monday evening in the parlor of
the Rattenbury House, Rev. C. E.
Jeakins, Rector of St. Paul's Church,
tied the rnatrimonal knot between Mr.
Joseph Townsend and Mrs. Annie
Grandeon. The bride was given away
by the genial proprietor) Mr. Joe
Rattenbury. The bride was aSsisted
by her niece, Miss Lily Kingston,
while Mr. M. Graelis looked after the
groOrn, After the ceremony a dainty
lunch was served after Which the bride
and groom took up housekeeping at
the groom's home on Kirk street,
followed by the good wishes of their
many frier els.
