Rev, Mr. Farr has been very busy
getting the grounds around the new
rectory into shape. IIe has been
staking a good job of the work, too.
Mr. Stewart, who has been visiting
his brother in town for some time, has
gone to Flamtilton accompanied by his
wife,
Mrs. John McMillian, who has been
suffering; from a severe attack, of ap-
pendicitis is now improving. The at-
tendant physicans decided that an op-
eration was not necessary.
Miss A. Maude' Ring has gone to
Detroit where she will speak at the
M. E. Conference in the interests of
the Woman's Home Msesiotary, So-
ciety. and Deaeonness work.

Mr. T. T, Field recently bought of
Mr. John Mustard of Morris nine
two-yearrold cattle for 'which he paid
an a.erage of 587.75 per head.
, Dr. and Mrs, Kennedy were in Kin*
card,ne last week atteri:ling the grad-
uation exercises in connection, with
the hospital there,
Mrs. Dlnsley and bw daughter, Miss
Norma, have returned to theist home
after spending the winter its Detroit.
Dr. J. Aikenhead of London is now
assisting Dr's. Kennedy and Calder.
' Mr, J, Walter McKibhon has re-
moved his drug business to his new
premises in the McDonald block.
Mrs. Wm, Moore passed away at
her home on' Shuter street last week.
She hs survived by her husband and
a large family, her death being the
first break in the family.
Mrs. L. Pearen of East Wawanosh
died very suddenly on Tuesday, morn-
ing. She had been in her usual
health and had on Monday 'walked to
a neighbor's house where she was
taken suddenly i11 and passed away
the following morning. FIer husband
and three sons survive.
Mr. and Mrs, Geo, McKenzie have
returned aften spending the past three
months in California.

A merchant of Saskatoon, writing
to the Trade Journal of Montreal,
says that a great many of the sub-
divisions of alleged urban propertus
are being put upon the market that
are absolutely worthless. 'Some of
these lots are situated five or six
miles away from the centre of the
town and syndicates ate making for-
tunes selling farm lands at town sal;
nes.

Mr. Angus Hay, formerly a, mem-
ber of the staff of true Bank of Com-
merce here but who has recently
spent some years in South Africa,
was in town last week.
Mr. Fred Welsh has been appointed
bailiff of the second division court
of Seaforth.
Mr. Abraham Hugill of the Huron
Road, 'vest, has returned home after
spending the winter in California.
The young people of the town pro-
sented the operetta "Sylvia,'l to a
large and appreciative audience last
week. -

W. M. Veitch who is still living in
Toronto, he started for himself, and
the first soon become known far and
wide. Veatch Sr Neal were household
words and' these two young men be,
ing full of energy and perseverance be-
gan to revolutionize the old methods
of doing business, and by their un
sweving adherence to honesty they
very soon gained he confidence of
tlio public which they always retain-
ed. Some years ago Mr. Vei43h re-
tired, and the name was changed to
"The R. J. Neal Co." The business
still continued to develops and as-
sumed large proportions and' few rur-
al distr'iets could boost such a pre,
tentious stock as was carried by the
R: J. Neal Co. About fifteen months
ago Mr. 'Neal retired frons active
business in order to regain if possible
his failing health, but the dreadful dis-
ease had been deeply rooted, and he
gradually sank until death relieved
hien of his sufteeing.
In the Blenhcihi Agriculturalt So-
o:ety in the' Township Council; and
in other positions be discharged his
duty faithfully and well. In early
'l:fe he' became a member of the I.
0, 0, F. and he united also with the
Masonic) fraternity nearly forty years
ago. Ile was Treasurer of Platts-
ville Lodge for 'any years and was
erre of its most esteemed members.
Ho was also a member of the I. 0.
F. and his connection with these
Fraternal Societies brought him in
contact with many friends whom he
was always pleased to meet.

appointment of Rev, (1. A. Seager,
son of Crown Attorney Seager, as
principal of St, Mark's Theological
College at Vancouver. It is only
about a year since Mr. Seager went

last of a series of social evenings in
Oddfellows hall this evening.
Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Sheppard have
leased the rcii derma on St. Patrick
street recently vacated 'by Mr, J. B,,
Hawkins and are now occupying it.

Mr. J. C. Sheardown has purchased

The funeral of the late Mrs. Wm.
Strachan of Louisville, Kentucky,
took place on Saturday week from
