Toronto, March 18tra.--The reeeipts
at the Union Stock Yards today were
87 oars, witb 1672 cattle., 44 calve,
294 hogs aad 94 sheep and lambs.
Trade was fair and the market
sttong for the general 'tun of good;
medium butcher cattle. Prices in this
class held good and steady with last
week. For the heavier class of cattle
pieces barely beld their own and were
if _anything a little easier thau last
week, •
It may have been that the quatity
of the heavy cattle was not quite up
to that of last. While a week ago
several choice loads tapped the mar-
ket at $7.25 tbe highest mark today
was $7-05,
Choice butchers sold equal to the
choice at $5.50 to $6.80, good to
best expert at abed $7, and medium
choice at $5.50 to $6.80, good to
choice cows firm at $5 to $5.60,bulls
steady at $4.25 to $5,50.
Mach cows dull and very few want-
ed., .
Lambs steady to firzn at $6.50 to
$8. Ewes firm at $4.50 to $5.;50.
