The Christian ,Guardian of last
week asks some straight forward
questions to the London Free
Press. Here is the article :—Presi-
dent F. Buchanan, of Wingham,
has issued a call for a convention
of all temperance workers in Huron
county. The convention will meet'
on Thursday, March 20th, and its
main business will be to discuss
the question of the adoption of the
Scott Act in the county. The Lon-
don Free• Press, commenting on
this move, says :-"It would be dis-
appointing to the Rowell party
were the people of Huron to go in
for the Scott Act. Because this
course would upset the plans of
the Liberal party to gain powerby
thrusting a moral issue into the
arena of politics. It would show
that there already is anip Le,
machinery in the local option and
the Canada Temperance ' Acts and
that the 'abolish the bar' platform
is superfluous." The temperance
People are not losing any sleep
just now over the( question
whether they may or may not dis-
appoint Mr. Rowell. The ques-
tion which they are facing is whe-
ther Mr. Whitney will stand back
of the Scott Act if it carries. There
is no doubt as to Mr. Rowell's.atti-
tude, but will Mr. Whitney back up
the voters of Huron if they carry
the Scott Act? That is the point.
