The Council will have a. f ew new
faces this year as the electors have
placed Messrs. Cluff,"e'•,Paisley and
Mason along with Theippson, Ford
and 'Alorrish to look .4%ter the in-
terests of the town. It' was indeed
a surprise when it was'aearned that
Fred and Thos. Jackactil, jr, were,
left out in the cold. Thos, Jackson
has been an Al councillor for a
number of years and was always
on the look -out for 'anything that
would boost Clinton. Councillor
Fred Jackson has had but one term
and filled the important position
of Finance Minister very acceptab
ly. The New Era is sorry to see
them out 'of the Council( but such
is the fortune of war. '

Clinton Goes Dry
Clinton goes dry after the third
contest by a -Vote of 332 for and
214 against. The fight was keen
and from early morning t11 the
polis closed every available vote
was polled. After the'returns of
Division one was heard, it was
practically over but the shouting.
It is rumored that a recount Will be
demanded and also an effort .will
be made to upset the Bylaw, but as
far as the New 'Era can learn, it
is mostly street talk. Certain hotel
men have themselves to blame for
the lax manner in which they kept
the law. There were eight fights
in Huron County, 3 were won in
Clinton, Turnberry and Morris;
Tuckersmith defeated the repeal
vote and remains dry. Bayfield
had a keen fight and the vote was
a tie, Three places were lost by
the three -fifth clatu'',e, Exeter ' by
7 votes; McKillop by 3; Wingham
by 16.
