Mr. Harvey Reid, who is teaching all Baden, spent the holiday season at the parental home, that of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Reid. Mrs. James Webster and children of Lucknow visited the lady's moth- er, Mrs. John Reid, over the week- end. Mrs. Robert Young, who spent the summer in North Dakota, with, her daughter, II visiting her brother., Mr. George Johnston of the Goshen Line. Mr. and Mrs, James Keys of Yale, Mich., are visiting friends in Stanley and Goderich township. Mrs. Nelson Keys has . returnsd home after spending a few days with friends in London. Miss Olive Pollock, who has been in London the past two months, is spending the Thanksgiving holidays at the old home. ' Miss Jean Gilmour of the Crows - land Indian Mission, Saskatchewan, has been home visiting her mother, Mrs. John Gilmour of the 2nd con. Mrs. W. Fee and Miss Eva are vis- iting friends around Varna. Miss Mabel Clarke, who is attend- ing the Seaforth High schoel, spent Thanksgiving- at home. Mr. F. Chill of Seaforth visited at the home of Mr. John McKinley on Sunday last. Special services have been continued during the past week. Miss Lillian Stevens 'of the Bronson Line is supplying in S. 5, No. 5 dur- ing the illness of her sister, Miss Ethel. Mr. Calvin Dowscin lost a horse on Sunday last. The 1415sisis Reid nnd Johnston of the Parr Line were guests of Mrs. Thos. Robinson of the Goshen on Sunday. On Thursday evening last Rev. Dr. Rutledge of Clinton held a prayer meeting, at the home of Mr. Alex. NicEwan, when about sixty-five per- sons assembled to hear the gospel message. Although the gathering was composed of 'members of different de- nominations, , all met as one and seemed to enjoy the exercises. The hope was expreased that Dr,. Rut- ledge would again, favor the commun. ity with such a meeting. Thand:sgiving Day turned out very unpleasant so far as the weather was concerned. However, pleasant family gatherings were held and many bones 'picked. Mrs. Howard and daughter Evelyn of Blake spent the holiday with Rip- ley friends. • The new mail route, via Blake, St. Joseph, etc., has started and the 'courier, Mr. Dan Grascho, finds it a pretty long trip. The farmers served, though would hate to return to . the old s9stem again. Miss W. Stevens spent the holidays 'with her Parents. • • Mrs. William Douglas and Miss An - mit, Pearl, were in Toronto thin week the latter having' her eyes treated. Mr; John Thirsk has purchased a bean thresher and is now busy on his rounds threshing 'ern out. • Mr. and Mrs. W. Elliott and itainily of Bayfield spent Sunday as, guests of Mr. Howard of Drysdale. Many from this -vicinity attended the sale of cows in Zurich on Satur- day. Good prices are reported. Tho potato digging is over again and the crop is an excellent one.
