THE VICTORY.
(Published by request,)
Sometime' ago I had a dream,
That net with approbation,

;And paint imagination,,
But ngvv niy visionre-appearet'..
'_A,ssunsed si diferenb aviieot,
For' now ilio eloud ;ltas 'disappeared;'
And lelt a brigls4er prospect,
The prospeets aro' we'll have a school'
And without further action,
il'or we have voted at the ' poll, .
h pouted a.tia[action;
'l`lneWittrustees mascre their choice of site
And thought we ; should accept it,
But we came out all our -might,
And strongly did ,rejeet it.
They stood like, Lyons inl their den,
There to maintain their Site,
And we litre true Canadian met
For justice and the right.
They fought like hornets in their nest,
We fought like aware; of bees..
When they had done, theierlevet ]hest
We. beat their school trustees.
Manning their force, we did defy,
Combined they firmly stood ;
Forced its to eat their humble pie
Anddrink their, worn -Wood,
Sone swill recant, throw up the
sponge
slrsd have some common sense
And rote with' us 1 We plainly 800
You're straddle of the fence,
Oh, no, they said, we'll run the race
If win, or loose we'll venture,
We'll have the school in proper place,
And that is in the center.
So when the time had: fall 'expired,
The time to close the poll,
Most every one had cast lrfh vote
,That was upon the roll.
The chairman rose, declared the vote,
1a a calm, and peaceful mood,
I think no doubt to their surprise,
For this is how it stood.
And for the site was thirty-five,
And against was forty-three.
So then, as sure as you're alive,
IVis had gained the victory.
'Then eachtheir arbitrator chose
With harked profundity;
With close observance' to the laws,
And strict contorntity,
;So William rose in strong debate
Docalarcd his opposition
We'll have our man in spite of fate
And made his proposition,
The chairman ruled, he had no voice
Whatever in the matter,
And 1 think the feeling seemed to ho
In favour of the latter.
'Twas but a game to catch the votes,
A side issue at the best.
For how could any man go cast,
When lie was going west.
We had to take all kinds of blame
And eat their bitter pill
But we resented all the sante
When backed by Brigham Will.
So like the Philistines of old.
' Who fought against Their Zion,
And yet the night did there prevail
When Sampson stew • the Lyon,
