The annual meeting of the Gode-
rich Township Telephone System was
hard .in Ilohnesvillc Miall on Friday
afternoon last. The attendance was
large, :the biggest in the short his
tory of the Syhtcm. It is a good
sign when the subscribers turn out
to these annual 'meetings
- There
were eliariy enquiries radeto which
the management responded in, a frank
manner and their answers indicated
their clesire to conduct the business
in as economical a way as pdssibio
consistent with the permanent el-
flcieney of the System.
During the year twenty-one sub-
scribers were added, the number now
being 201, with the prospect of quite
a large , increase during the present
year. The System' now has .125 mil-
es of metallic circuit and 7+1 miles
of poles.
The meeting was presided over by

The first meeting of the township
council for J1113 was held on Mon-
day with every member present. The
chief buslncss of the session was the
appointing of the officials which re-
sulted' thus :

new Medical health Act the local
boards of health consists 'of the
reeve, clerk, M. U. 0. and one tax-
payer, the board for 1013 will com-

Mr. Cox has been a member of the
board for several years.
Holmes' hall was re -rented for
council purposes at forty-five dollars

Mr. Bert Murphy is a new man as
assessor, but being level-headed, ac-

was prettily decorated with pink and
white carnations, and where a dainty
wedding feast was spread.

spent in "games and music.
The bride was the recipient of a

ful gifts, arising from friends in
London, Teterboro, aid Winnipeg, be-
sides ;many from her associates in

Mr.. and Mrs. Brumweil left a few
days later for their heme in Win-
nipeg, itt which, city the groom

full attendance of the members. The
municipal officials were appointed as

will act as secretary, Dr. Rogers
and Mr. Johnston.

more sanitary inspectors so for con-
venience the township has been div-
ided at the Parr Line and Thomas
Baird will be inspector for the east
side and Mr. Manson the. west. The
remuneration of inspectors and
hoard is fixed at two dollars per.
day and mileage.
The contract for the big drain has
been signed up and the contractor

procedure at his finger ends which,
combined with his thoroughness and
tactful manner, has relieved members
of the council of considerable de-
tail that otherwise might Have de-
volved upon them.

at Ontario, California, John Wesley
Sherrttt, formerly 'of Corbett, 'Step-
hen township, in his 80th year. Ile
was the second son of Mr. Win.
Sherri tt, and the late iElizabeth
Rathwell, and nephew of Mr. limn.
Rathwell of Stanley townbliip. He
coit'traelfcd a severe cold whilstlhome-
steading in the northwest where he
made for himself a very comfortable
home and was the owner of a large
tract of land. Finding his health
failing him, he decided to go to Cal-
ifornia, about fifteen months ago, ac-
companied by his sister Minnie who
was with (tint at the timeof his
death. The remains were laid to
rest hi Mr. Vallis' plot, a friend of
his whom he stopped with while in
California and who proved to he a
warm friend during his stay in
the soutli.
Rev. R. Murray of Chicago is the
guest of Mr. Andrew Reid for a cou-
ple of weeks, While here Mr. Murray
will assist the Rev. Mr. Snowden,
who is holding special Services at
Varna for a few weeks.
