The Clinton Hockey Club has secur-
ed Herbert Perry's Company to play
here for their benefit for two nights,
Jan, 20th and 21st, when they will
present 'two new
plays s ttsL
are said
to be much better than those put on
by the Company here a few weeks
ago. On Monday evening they will
open the engagement with a very
elcver little college comedy -drama
entitled, •"rhe Little Co-I:d." In
this production Dan Mulloy and Haz-
el Corinne have very important
parts and they will both help to en-
tertain you. The play is said to be
the best seen in this part of the
country for sante time. Everything
except the members of the company
is entirely different to what was
used here on the former visit and
the local hockey Club is fortunate
in securing this attraction. Tickets
are now on sale by members of the
Club. Prices 25c, 85c and 50c. Se-
cure yours early.

MONDAY'S CONCERT, .
The hockey Club put on their first
entertainment in the- town hall on
Monday evening when Miss Lucy
Webling and Mr.. McRaye, reader -
actors, gave a very pleasing pro -
grant. Mr. Karl Wilkin and Mr. Jas
Doherty each contributed some mus-
ical selections, which were apprec-
iated. The date of the concert had
been postponed and coming so soots
after the holiday time and on el-
ection night, the attendance was not
as large as the entertainment mer-
ited, but the boys will conte out
all right and should they feel in-
clined to "try again," it is hoped
TIIE LOCAL IELECTION,
The Local Optionists won the
fight on Monett,. The margin was
1 not large but they appear to be sat-
isfied, reasoning that while it was.
hard to carry the bylaw on a three-
-fi,ths vote their opponents will find
it just as difficult to reverse the de-
cision on the sante basis.
I. The 'Hydro -Electric hlylaw carried
by so decisive a majority that the
council can have no hesitation in
carrying out with all promptness
the mandate of the people. Goderich
also carried a similar bylaw so that
in a few months these two will be
hydro towns.
The election for councillors result-
ed in surprises, Messrs. T. Janson,
,Jr. and F. Jackson\ being defeated.
This is a matter of regret as both
have served the town well. The tat-
ter in his capacity as chairman of
i l t
the Ananco committee was thorough
;and painstaking. Mr, T. Jacitson has
for several terms been one of
the most progressive members of the
council and was always to the front
