THAT COLD YOU HAVE
may bring sickness, doctors bills and
loss of work; you, know that serious
sickness usually starts with a cold, and
a cold only exists where weakness
exists. Rrme,nber that.
Overcome the weakness and nature
cures the cold—that Is the law of
reason. Carefully avoid drugged pills,
syrups or stimulants; they are only
props and braces and whips.
It is the pure medicinal nourishment
in Scott's Emulsion that quickly en-

and helps heal the air passages.
And mark this well—Scott's Emul-

SCHOOL,
Lesson XIII.— Fourth Quarter,
For Deo. 27, 1914.
THE INTERNATIONAL. SERIES.
Text of the Lesson, 11 Cor. v, 14-21,
Quarterly Review -Golden Text, Gal.
vi, 14—Commontary'Prepared by Rev,
D. M. Stearns.
',assort L = Christ Anointed For
Burial, Mark xiv, 1-11, • Golden Text,
Mark xis', 8, "She hath done what she
could," Tbis is not the anointing of
Luke vii by an unnamed woman, but
that by Mary of Bethany shortly be-
fore the Passover. It was the heart-
felt devotion of a humble, believing
heart, and He accepted it and approv-'
ed of it and reproved those who tonna
fault,
Lessee- IL -The Last Supper, Mark
xiv, 12-25. Golden Text, I Cor. xi, 26,
"As often as ye eat this breadand
drink this cup ye do show the Lord's
death till He come." Note the Pass-
over greatly desired and its future ful-
fillment in the kingdom. The thought
of that glory should keep us very hum-
ble now and deliver us from all strife
and ambition as we think of what It
cost Him to obtain it for us, The
bread and wine should always say to
us, "Till He come."
Lsssori IIL—In the Garden of Geth-
semane, Mark xiv, 32-42. Golden Text,
Matt. xxvi, 41, "Watch and pray that
ye enter not into temptation." Our ut-
ter inability to appreciate either His
sufferings or His glory is seen in the
sleeping of these three men in the gar-
den and on the. Mount of Transfigura-
tion. His longing for some human
sympathy may be seen In His "Could -
est thou not watch one hour?"
LESSON IV. -Jesus and Judas, Matt.
Tool, 47-50; xxvfi, 3-10. Golden Text.
Matt. xxvi, 24, "Woe unto that man
through whom ,the Son of Man is be-
trayed." The last lesson seemed to be
Christ and the devil face to face, as
in the wilderness. This is Christ, and
the devil is a professed believer, who
dares to profess frlendsblp by a kiss.
and Jesus tolerates it The betrayer's
testimony to the innocence of Christ
is very strong.
Lesson V. -The Arrest and Trial of
Jesus, Matt. xxvl, 57-68. Golden Text,
Isa. 111I, 7, "He is brought as a lamb to
the slaughter, and, as a sheep before
her shearers, is dumb, so He openeth
not His mouth." This lesson is an
awful illustration of the enmity of the
human heart to God, who is only Love,
Their ill treatment of Him as they
hound Him to death is almost unbe-
lievable. He submits to all without a
murmur or reply.
Lesson VI.- Sowing and Reaping,
Gal, vi, 1-10. Golden Test, Gal. vi, 7,
"Whatsoever a man soweth that sball
he also reap." We are seeing the
meekness of Jesus as He suffered In
our stead, and nothing is more becom-
ing in us than lowliness and meekness
and long suffering (Eph. lv, 2). If -we
are crucified with Christ we must ever
reckon ourselves dead unto self and
sin and alive unto God.
LESSON VII. -Jesus and Peter, Mark
sly, 53, 64, 60.72. Golden Text, I
Cor. x, 12, "Let him that tbinketh he
standetb take heed lest he fall." Wheu
a true disciple allows the devil to work
in him and speak through him it is a
great' victory for the adversary and
dishonor to Christ, but the unfailing
and unchanging love of such a Saviour,
who loves His own to the end in spite
of all their failures, is an exceeding
great comfort.
Lesson VIII. -Jesus and Pilate, Matt.
xxvii, 11-20. Golden Test, Matt. ±soli,
22, "Pilate sante-unto them, What shall
I do, then, with Jesus, who is called
Christ?" Betrayed by one who pro-
fessed to be His, clenied by one who
was really and truly His, condemned
to death by the religious rulers, who
thought that they were God's chosen
ones, and now handed over for execu-
tion by the state which, itestified to His
innocence.
Lesson Ig.-Obrist Crucified, Mark
av, 22-37. Golden Text, Isa. MI, 4,
"Surely He bath borne our griefs and
carried our sorrows. Yet we did es-
teem , Him
s-teem,Him stricken, smitten of God
and afflicted." Numbered with trans-
gressors, put to death as the vilest
criminal, jeered and mocked as He
hung upon the cross, forsaken by His
Father, the agony of it all we cannot
begin toimagine, but we can hold fast
the words !'Ells own self bare my
stns."
LnssoN X.- Christ Risen. From the
Dead, Mark ave, 1-8; Matt xxvl i;
11-15. Golden Text, Luke xxiv, 6, 6:

dead? He is not here, but is risen."
