COUNTY ROADS AND BRIDGES.
On Thursday of last week, a meet
ing ot representatives of Huron and
Perth County Councils was held in
the Oonrt House, the following being
present; Wa-den Cantelon, Councillor
Livingston and Oo, Engineer Patter
sun, Huron and Warden Smith and
Conn. Scott of Perth. The following
contracts were awarded. Gulley Bridge
in Stephen, at $1306, and Kirk's bridge
on the boundry, at $543, to Joseph
Lawson: Stewart bridge, at Moles
worth, at 3595 add Mace bridge, at.
Wingham, at $025 to Robert Vint, of
Blyth.
A THOUSAND NEW TEACHERS,
According to the Normal school
results which lias appeared, 1,009
students have been qualified for teach
ing in the proyince of Ontario. Of
these 18 candidates successful in Grade
A, having been fi.warded permanent
second class certificatee, while 653
obtained interim second class eertifi
Cates which become permanent after
successful probationaryteachind. The
Candidates who did not succeed in
making the•necessarymarks are close
enought to bring them within section
13, of the normal school syllabus, are
entitled to third class certificates valid
1for public school teaching for five,
years. These latter candidates, of
� whom there are 128, will be granted
second class certificates on passing the
Easter or June final examination in
any year during the term of their cer
tificate.
