CONCERT A SUCCESS,
The last ,of the course concerts
under the mantagement of Jas. 10.
Doherty was held last Friday night
when the Dixie Quintette made
their first appearance here. - The
hall was well filled and all en-
joyed the "!performance of the
negro ,comparfy, Their program
opened. up -with 'aquartette, "Com-
z ales in Arms" followed by 'a
banjo " selection. The tenor sang

followed by a sketch of a church
service in slavery days and many
jubilee numbers. Tice'last part of

plentiful. The company can fill the
hall on a second appearance.

last reports the call to Rev. R. B.
Stevenson, of Tavistock, to Shel-
burne. The reverend gentleman is
a brother of Mrs. W. St Downs of

popular character. Mr. Giggle is

sion with. his noble bass voice. It
is easily one of the best beardlhere
in years, Miss Jean McDonald; the
talented Canadian elocutionist was
deservedly popular with the aud-
ience: Her enunciation, is good her
selections well chosen her stage ap
pearence all that could be desired
and her dramatic fact of the 'hiigh-
est. She is one fo Canada's best
readers today. Miss Crawford of
this city has a charming soprano of
