The hall, which had .just been new-
ly painted and decorated, was filled.
-to capacity, the proceeds - amounted
to $70 which, together with $40 pre-
viously collected, will be. forwarded
- to the Canadian Red Cross Society.

Mr. Andrew Schmidt, one of hay's
oldest settlers, died on Monday aged
B1 years. He leaves a family of three
sons and four daughters : Jacob,
William and Ezra, and Mrs. Henry
.Morgan of Detroit ; Mrs. Westlake,
of Stanley ; Mrs. Fassoid of Toronto
and Mrs. Josiah Geiger of Zurich,

Mrs. Hornuth and Miss i\Iargurete
have returned to their ditties on the
teaching staff to the Whitby Ladies'
College. Miss Hernial], who is still
continuing her duties, has been ap-
pointed a pupil leacher.
