Bliss Margaret Gray of Toronto vis-
ited
ited Wingham` friends recently.
Mrs. Wm. J. Johnston passed away
after a short illness last week. her
Kusband and a family of five sons and
one daughter' survive,.
Four little., children, of Mr, and Mos.
Joseph Saint were rescued from their
burning horse last Thursday by; neigh-
!hors in the absence of their: parents
who were down town when the lire
started. The origin of the .blaze,
which almost completely destroyed
the residence, on Edward street, is
not known. The :` Four children
had ' been put to 'bet; • and the
father and .the another went out.
Some time afterwards the place was
noticed to he on. fire. The children
were seen standing together at a rear
window, whjle the entire back of the
house was in flames, An entrance
was forced and the little ones aremov-
ed to safety, The fire brigade made
a quick run and extinguished the Pure,
preventing its spread. The loss is
placed at $1,500 with little insur-
ance.
