This seaaon will see the Atlantic service of. the Canadian Pacific aug- mented by the additioin of two new steamers. These two vesselwill be of the one clam cabin type, which are becoming so popular. Barclay Ourle & Company, of Glasgow, se- cured the contract for the building of the ships some months ago, end the construction is well under way. They are being specially construet- ed for the A,tientic serve* and will contain every possible convenience for the cienfert of passengers. They will be of the ''one class" type, with passenger accommodation for 520 second, amd 1,200 third °leas, These new vessels have been named the "M loam hi" and the length will be of 520 feet, greatest breadth 64 feet, while the breadth of the passenger deck will be 41 feet. Each vessel will have a dead weight capacity of 7,900 tons, vih an approgirriate cargo capaofty fur 6,000 toms. The. famou1 cruiser etenn, which is the feature of the new Empress recent- ly placed on the Pacific coast, is be- ing introduced, and the new ships will also have aix complete steel decks. In order to ensure safety the hulls are to be sub -divided by water -tight doors and bulkheads, se as to be capable of floating when three compartments are open. These water -tight bulkheads end doors will be automatically con- trolled -from the bridge. Ill‘he speed of each 'vessel will be 15 knots with e draught of 27,5, As for the in- terior of the vessels, each second - °lees stale room will be fitted with it wardrobe end chest of drawers, folching lavatory with mirror, and other oonveniences. The public rooms will be dining saloon, smok- ing room, lounge and drawing room. The refri- gerating plant tvill be els-mete of making 300 lbs, of ice per eight hours.
