The Maple Leta Flour Mills at Ste
Catharines, was completely destroyed
by fire on Monday night. Mr. Thotnas
Smallacombe, a former 0lintonian,
and a brother in law of the Messrs,
Shipley, has been Inc several years
connected with this mill, valued at
5100,000, and was one of its share
hohlers.
Mrs. Henderson, who has been visit
ing her mother, Mrs. Sheppard, of
Townsend n nd street, was called to $anvil
ton on Monday owing to the illness of
her husband, who was taken to the
hospital to undergo an operation.
Miss Beatrice Greene, who has been
visiting for some time at the hone of
Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Jenkins, 'Termite,
returns to Clinton in a few days, Mrs.
Jenkins may accompany her and re
main for the Christmas holidays,

town hall last Thursday evening

young ladies did well. To adeque
