Buy Dress Goods Now
N spite of the war, we have been successful in obtaining a
complete assortment of the beautiful new shades and fabrics in
°" "DRs C o oD5
The dress goods centres of Continental Europe are either destroyed
or in the enemies' hands. Priestleys' famous looms, at Bradford,
England, are now working overtime making cloth for
the Allied Armies.
The beautiful Spring goods that we are now showing
may be the last we will be able to obtain for some
time to come.

THE BRANDING OF BUTTER
It is the intention of the dairy in-
spectors' to enforce the regulations
regarding the branding of butter this
year. In brief these regulations are
as follows: All whey butter in pound
prints must be branded, whether it
is sold to the patrons of the factory
or to the public generally. All whey
Nutter packed in 56 lb. boxes must be
e butter:
Itis compul
branded "whey p
y
eery' that farmers offering dairy but
ter for sale in pound prints, wrap the
butter in parchment paper, and brand
dairy butter in letters at least inch
long. Farmers must also have their
own name of their farm printed on the
wrappers
WINTER I; AIR PROSPECTS GOOD
VOm, Smith, president, and the dir
colors of the winter fair beard were
in Guelph Thursday discussing the
prospects for the show this fall. They
have at their disposal a grant of $5,000
extra from the federal Government,
and are considering the best method
of using it. It is likely that about
$3.500 will be added to the prize list
and $I,500 to better equipping the
premises
WASTE OF TIME
LICKING STAMPS
The Canadian Courier is out for a
three -cent stamp to take the place of
the two stamps that are necessary
since the imposition of the war tax.
The courier says: We must all take
two "licks" to the job int tend of one;
and neither the Government nor the
war gets any benefit from the addi-
tional and unnecessary lick. We are
unidersally willing to put in as much
time as we can "licking" the Germans
but why fritter away our energies
licking postage stamps when we gain
nothing by it?

Kirsch is the plan who took the ''sag! out of. Curtain
Rods by inventing a fiat extension rod with round edges
and curved ends, which allows your curtains to hang flush
against your casing, making a very pleasing effect. They'
may be attached in such a way as to show the woodwork
or if desired, to hide the casings, should, they not be as
nicely finished as you would like.
They can be had either single or double.
Are easy to put'up, and are durable.
