Powell and Mr. John A. Cooper. Mr.
Powell to tlie able and eloquent pas-

and glowingly referred to the part
that Canada was taking in the great
empire struggle. As n natito ; of
Turnberry, he naturally heelmo re-

Part . of the pioneer Powell colony es-

both emitting lg and interesting. g That

was in keeping with the occasion.
Mr, John A. Cooper, editor of the
Canadian Courier, is usually recogniz-
ed more as a clever journalist than
an a public speaker, yet he is able to
nake an excellent address, and brief-'
yr showed Canada's relation and re-
sponsibility to the Empire.. A son of
Mrs. W. Cooper, Clinton, . he
properly claimed a pioneer's relation-
ship to Huron because his ancestors
settled in Goderich township in 1834,
and humorously showed how environ-
ment had to do with development of
certain personal titins of character.
