turned Monday evening atter- a visit

TI -IE FUNERAL FRIDAY LAST.
The funeral of the late Mrs. Ben-
jamin Spindler took place from the
home of her sister, Mrs, J. J. Mac-
donald on Friday afternoon last. 'rhe
services at house and graveside were
conducted by Rev. Dr, Stewart, who
almost twenty-five years ago united
Mr. and Mrs. Spindler in the holy
bonds of matrimony. The pallbearers
were A. C. Clarkson, Harold lerem-
lin, Frank Dixon, Elmer Finch, R. A.
Moore and Will. Kennedy. Among
those from a distance who attended
the obsequies were :C Mrs. Beaele,
Flint ; Mesees. Spindler, Lucknow ;
Mr. and Mrs. Emmanuel Finch and
Warren and Irene, Stratford e Peter,
Ed. and John Daley of Seaforth. All
the members of the family or the
deceased were present for the last
sad rite's.

A COUPLE Ole FIRES.
The firemen were given a run on
.Monday afternoon when the barn of
Mr. T. H. Cook on the lot on which
his residence dands was disnovered to
be on fire. The building was offrame,
and the fire had gained such headway
when the brigade arrived . that it
could not be saved. There was no
livestock in the building, which was
used fen a hen house, but there were,
ot pourse,a good many things inside

the fire started from a lamp Used for
fumigating the hennery, though Mrs,
Cook bad been in attending to it only
a few minutes before the flamewere

Early yesterday morning the fire

town from its peaceful slumbers. It
was diseovered that the house on
Maple street owned by Mr. Jacob
Taylor of Toronto and occupied by

fire had got such a start that it
was impossible to save either build-
ing or contents and both were com-
pletely destroyed.Mr. and Mrs. Bert, -

terday afternoon by the employes of
the company with a wrist watch and
a New Testament. Mr. Walton was
the. youngest member of the staff and
hi's fellow -workers are proud or his
practical proof of loyalty. Manger

close of the day's aotivities.

Ravenswood are enjoying a holiday
of a fortnight or so in Baylield. Mr.
Laws, it will he remembered, was
formerly pastor of the Bayfield Meth-
odist church.

ides is in the White City, went home,
on Saturday. The Misses Maitland
still remain at "Camp jetiffitt.”
Miss Florence 11higill and Miss
Mary Hays of Kipper are holidaying,
with Mr, and Mrs. Hays, Dlr. Nor-
man Jones, likewise or leippen, was a
guest at the same home on :Sunday.
Miss Robson, who sang at. Sunday's
services in the Presbyterian church,
has returned to her hoine in Ilderton.
Mr. John le. Morgan, who annually
comes over from Cle:eland, Ohio,
to visit the old home village, is here
this week. He looks well and is en-
joying himself heartilp as he expect-
ed he would and in that respect no
visitor to Bonfield ever 'goes ftway

of Bayfield passed away on Wednes-
day 01 last week at his home - at
Strassburg, Sask., in the perenn of.
Alexander Paul Fraser. He was
born in the town of Invernesse, Scot-
land, on August sith, 1844, and when
he was but a bop his parents came
to Canada, locating first at Galt..
