H. I-Iardy. Mr. J. J. Merner, M.P., and his son Eddie were in town Saturday. Mr. Merner is considerable of a farmer, having 120 acres in beads aline. Will. Walker of the 33rd Battalion has been home for a week's holiday hut returns to duto tomorrow. He likes military life and it is quite evident it agrees with him, Inspector Field brought Miss Field, Miss Pridham and little Miss Nor- ma Crews down from Godericli with him on Tuesday and they spent the day in town while the Inspector was presiding at examinations. Mr. and Mrs. Bert Langford, Master I-Iarold and Dr. 7'honps;un motored to Granton on 'Sunday to attend Me funeral of Clifton Langford, aged twenty }tears, who was killed in his father's sawmill on Thursday last. Mrs. George Clark of Aberdeen, South Dakota, and her daughters, Maybelle and Edith, visited for a few days of last week with Mr. and Mrs. George Stanbury, Maple Street. Mrs. Stanbury and Mrs. Claris are sisters. Mr. Arthur R. Ford, son of Rea', J. E. and Mrs. Ford of Goderich, who has been a member of tire. The Methodist church held their an- nual garden party on the parsonage lawn on 'rihursday evening last when everything conspired to make A a success. The weather was ot June's best; with a good moon. The, crowd gathered early and remained late. The supper provided by the lades was everything that could be desired and there, were booths where extra dain- ties. could bu procured. After sup- per there was an excellent programs of music, eto., also the Kitty band of Clinton which discoursed sweet music, patriotic and otherwise, wingh was much appreciated. It was. a hap- py gathering of people who were bent on spending, an evening enjoy- ably •and that is what the}t did: The proceeds amounted to a tidy sum. The Women's Institute are having a social afternoon at the home of th,, president, Mrs. (Dr.) 'Young, on July Sth. Everybody welcome, Dr. Whitely and bride left on Sat- urday on an extended trip.
