who delivered a fine specimen of his
skill with the brush in Seaforth on
Saturday, spent the mid-day in
Clinton.'
Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Fisher of near
Benmiller were in town Monday and
also in Seaforth. Mr. Fisher is
looking for a small farm; conven-

Mr. George Armstrong of Stanley
was in town Monday and renewed
his subscription to The News-Rec-

Mr, and Mrs. A. T. Holland, Mon-
treal, arrived on Saturday and will
spend a few weeks with their son
and wife, Mr. and Mrs, E, D, Hol-
land, Princess street. Mr, A. T.
Holland is a director of the Clinton
Motor Company.
Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Blanchard, who
'have been drown in Florida since
their marriage which occurred early
last autumn, arrived' Monday even-
ing and will mend a fortnight or
so as the guests of the lady's
mother, Mrs. G. Pickett.
Mr. John Ransford was in: London
last week attending the, muting• of
the annual Synod of the Huron Dio-
cese and was again appointed lay
secretary, though he wished to be
relieved of the duties of the 'office,.
Mr, Ransford has been in, Tbronto
on business this week.
Mrs Attridge, MTs. Ramsay and the
latter's three little daughters, Miss-
es Bernice, Genevieve and Mary, all
of Brown City, Mich., arrived en
Friday on a visit to their aunt,
Mrs. Win. Cantelon Mrs. Ramsay
and children left Monday afternoon
for Buffalo but Mrs. Attridge is re-
maining for a longer visit.
Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Rutledge left
Saturday for Toronto after spend-
ing ten days or so as guests of the
former's parents, Rev. Dr.. and
Mrs, Rutledge, Mr. Rutledge will
do some special work for his firm
before •returning to Winnipeg and
they will` probably visit 'Clinton
later on before returning west.
Mr. A. T. Cooper was in SR Marys
on Sunday assisting the Perth tem-
perance people in their campaign.
He spoke in Knox church in the
morning and in the Baptist church
in,, the evening anti also at a mass
meeting in the' afternoon. Mrs.
Cooper, Master Willis and Mrs, J.
%semen accompanied him, ihelpar-
ty going by motor.
Mr. acid Mrs. John Snider left yes-
terday morning for Preston to at-
tend the wedding of their mice,
Miss Elsie Edna Hagey to Dr.
Clarence Hilliard Saucier, which
took place last evening. Mr. and
Mrs. Snider have a great many
relatives in that district and will
hardly be allowed toreturn for at
least a week or ten days,

Toronto, who have keep staying at
Bayfield, are this week visiting
Clinton friends,
Mr. and Mrs. Gillis Gilchrist motor-
ed up from Ayr this week and spent
a few days with the former's moth-
er and sisters in town.
Mr. Howard Jackson of Chicago,
son of Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Jackson
of town, spent a few days last
week at the parental home.
Mr. and Mrs. Albert Hardy of Lind-
say are spending a few days with
their daughter, Mrs. Russel Neal of
the Base bine, north of town.
Miss Jennie Miller of London. motor-
ed up on Sunday and spent the day
with her parents, Mr. and Mrs.
James S. Miller of Orange street.
Miss Kate Scott, who has been
practising her profession of nurse in
New York City, returned home
Tuesday for a few weeks' vacation.
Mrs. James Turnbull returns to Tor-
onto today after a visit of a
cotiple of moitihs with her sister,
Mrs. L. Greig, and other relatives
and friends in town and surround-
ing country. •

family motored up , from f3rigden on
Saturday and on their return Mon-
day were accpmpanied by Mr. Geo.
Bradshaw who iti visiting with them
for a few days and at W'allaceburg.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Baker and
Mrs. A, D. Beaton of town and, Mr,
Henry Baker of the Sixteenth: at-
tended the wedding of a relative,
Mr. B. D. McCleneghan of White-
church, to Miss Mary C. Barbour of
Fordyce, which event took place on
Wednesday of last weak, The party
went by motor from here and re-
mained until Thursday.
Rev, It T. Chuff, Mrs. Guff and their
son, Mr. Howard Chill, motored up
from Stratford on Monday and
spent a couple of days with Mr.
and Mrs. R, J. Cluff of town and
with friends in Goderich township.
Rev. Mr. Chill. met with an acct
dent, ,a fortnight ago by which he
had a small 'bone in his; wrist
fractured and he has had to be
somewhat careful 'Of it since,
Constance.
Mrs. IT. Colclough and son stent

The many friends of Mr. Grant
Beaton, who has been in the west for
the past couple of years or so, will
be pleased to hear that he is making
good use of his time, lie has just
completed his first year at tlei Win-
nipeg Medical: Collage and not only
pasnad his examinations with first
Clam honours but took first sounding
in the school and won a scholarship.
Mr. Beaton is teaching at Vanguard,
Sask., for the summer.

Marjorie, of Chicago, Ill., are visit-
ing at. the home of the former's sis-

week from a very pleasant auto trip •

The football game on Monday night
between Hullett and Tuckersntith re-
