• The Ladies' Guild of St. Paul's
church gave a ten cent tea in Owen
Hall oe Thursday afternoon last and
a large number of ladies carne in for
a cup ,of tea during the afternoon.
The tables were -very daintily arrang-
ed, the tea was good and the bread
and butter and cake served were all
of the best. Pleasant; chat prevailed
-and many of the ladies brought along
theirknitting and spent a social
hour. The proceeds, which anointed

Give More Time and Money,
The first contingent of Canadians
Fare new in France and from a cable.
from. Sir George Perley, who is in a
position to .know the facts, it is
3earned that the troops arou badly in,
meed of warm woolen eloping, clspec-
daily socks. Money for the. purchase
of belts and other things will of
1000050 be acceptable, but the chief
meed is Tor more socks. It seems a
;pity that them men who are fighting
Tor the freedom of our Empire should
suffer for lack of the commonest com-
forts. It seems to be the plain dutyt
of those who remain quietly at ]torte
to see that such necessary things are
supplied. Let men give of their
'stoney and women of their time and
:skill so that as far as in us lies our
men at the front may not be allowed
to stiffer needlessly. Just .at present
the local'branch of the Women's Pat-
riotic Society, over two hundred
women :ready 'and willing to do all in
their power in the Way of work, are
handicapped for the want of money
to purchase material. Any donation
handed' in to: them will be wisely
spent and will make it possible to
keep willing fingers busy turning
out the articles so sorelyneeded by
the men in the trenches. Let us
give time and money and let us "do
it now.''.
