Tipi., ih'cer,, ,Municipalities, (tare at a meetin • of their representatives, ex- pressed a desire to uudert,tl:e this de- velopment, in place of torrent;' the Ont- ario Government do so, and Premier Hearst has promised toamend the Act ,l' the list session of the Legislature to allow the municipalities to own the power development, providing a, suffi- cient number of the hydro Municipal- ities are 111 favor of owning the gener- ating plant Its they now do the trans- mission lines. if this by-law, passes the municipal- ities will own the generatng station in the saute manner as the present trans- mission lines, and In time the cost of power will be reduced to operating and maintenance expense only. If the Ontario Government develop the power, the municipalities would have to purchase power the same as at present and no reduction in price could be expected, as they will never own the plant. Why You Should Vote "Yes" on the Hydro By -Law 1.—Because you will be ()wiling, operating and controlling your own Generating Station. 2.—Bec4use you will reap the hent tit of the cheapest power possible from Niagara falls, 3,—Because yon are going to assist in the buitailig up of the greater in- dustrial Ontario, 1.—Because if the Municipalities own their own development, you will obtain power at cost, 5.—Because if Municipalities own their own development there wilt be no dividends to share with stockholders; there will be, no stockholders except yourselves. 6,—Because the load on the Hydro System in 1915 was 110,654 Il. P.; in 0916 over 150,000 if, P.; the estimat- ed load in 1917 will be 183,000 H. P.; ;Ind in 1918 227,000 Il. P., and the total present power arranged -for, only 150,000 N. . P 7: Because electric allergy, is re- garded as 8 most vital factor in the Development and Prosperity of this Provinc 3.—Because it ()leans that the Mun- icipalities wish to control the addition- al power developments on the Niagara River in a manner similar to their pre- sent ownership of the Distribution Sys- tems. 9. --Because the new scource of power will ensure an abundant supply of electric energy at a time when it is most urgently required to assist in the development of the Province., 1 0.—Because the Municipalities. which decide in favor of the Bylaw will in time obtain an interest in a develop-, ()tent which will result in a reduction io, the cost of power to the Consumers. 11.—Because a vote in favor of the By-law is a vote for Municipal owner- ship Ownership. Provincial ship and notOw P 12,—Because if the generating stat- ion is owned by ,tire Provincial Govern- ment when the debentures issued to pay for the plant have been paid off the plant will have been paid for entire,,'. ly by the Municipalities but will still be the property of the Government to do with as they, may choose. 13.—Because the passing of the By,- lavedoes not commit the Municipality to Tiny financial outlay.
