4913 AUTO PERMITS ARE
GOOD TO,JAN, 31.
Hon. F. G. Macdiarmid, Minister of
Public Works, announces that the
time of the 1916 automobile permits
has been extended until January 3t.
This is done so that owners of cars
will not be put to the inconvenience
of taking out permits during the holi-
day season. Heretofore chauffeurs
have all been required to take exam -
Mations to obtain a chauffer's permit.
The Government wish to encourage
owners and drivers of care to take this
examination also For that reason the
examination' will become an operat-
ors' examination, which all chauffeurs
must take, but which will be optional
for owners and drivers. It is pointed
out that in case of accidents it is fa-
vorable to drivers if they can show . a
certificate of competence.

for some minutes it looked like some
delay and trouble, and a great offense
to Uncle Tose, when Judge Aedrews
and Lawyer Brydone clone to the de-
fence and pleaded with Mr. Libby to
withdraw Iris remarks and exception,
but Ins offer to bet Uncle Tom Moo
