If you have, you certainly are in a position to appreciate the value of a roof that is positively water -proof. Some of the troubles common to wooden shingles to -day are that they are apt to split, warp or blow off as well as leak, soon after they are put on. Years ago they were good, but the quality has since gradually debreciated as the available supply of suitable tirttbee became exhausted. Brantford Slates have none of the faults of wooden shingles. They cannot rust. They do not allow rain to be driven under them as do metal roofs. They do not require rigid supporting as do the common tile or elate roofs. On the hand Brantford Slates afford the utmost protection with little weight. They are made on a long -fibred felt "base" which is thoroughly saturated under pressure with asphaltum or mineral pitch. Cradled quarried slate particles are then deeply embed- ded in the surface of this "base", making it water -tight and fireproof. Brantford Roofing Brantford Slates are made in the natural slate colors of green. red, black and grey. The colors never fade and the slates do not require painting nor repairing, These slates are pliable and fit readily around gables and into the angles of any roof. This means a continuous roof without seams or joints. Sparks die on Brantford Slates. When you have these slates "on" you are done with the job. Remember they don't require painting or staining and may be selected to harmonize with al- most any exterior color design, and the price is not beyond your reach. We would be pleased to send you samples and our Roofing Booklet. Thursday, June 1st, 1916. An Interesting Letter ing .train. This we did with the, intention of going up through the. famous Proveacks, we got as far as Sterling ,and found that owing to a wreck ,on the line we could not go any further. We paw Sterling Caistle and Wallace monument and though we were only n, mile from the field of Bannockburn we could not take time to run out and that trill !took us twice over the Iai'orth. bridge, the largest in the world, bull the navy, had disappeared der ing the night. That proved afree trip for they tga,ve us back oue money since they could not tate us ail the way. • We had a couple of .hours in Edinburgh, saw the castle, Nelson monument the old cemetery, etc. and took the train for Glasgow. We had' our tea in one of the famous Glasgow Tea Booms, and such a meal for 50c, it was beau- tifully cooked and served up. We took the midnight' train for Lon- don and after a fairly good sleep arrived just in tine to miss the train for Stratford 'her just oue minute. Tu one way it proved a good thing for we saw the famous wax, works and ,several places of interest. In Madam Tussonde, wax ,gallery we ,met exact lii.e- nesses of all noted :19th and 20th century oleo and women—so life- like that visitors would find them selves asking pardon for beingio their wa,y. To. detail all the things we saw would' !talcs too long, enough to say we wasted not a :minute. One meal we would have .at a soldier's rest •or Y.M.C. A. but which would coat us nine pence .and the: next would be at a most fashionable hotel or such a place as the Old Chesire Cheese -•- a ,place where Johnston, Shakes- peare and those famous people used to dine in their day. They served up such meals as those peo- ple used to order. Now I ani back to the tnutl and winds of Delbert), but like my work well. -I cam as .happy as oar be. as an instructor. If it was not that I am tied to Queen's Ihave been told my work would be in England, but I want to go wherever 1: am need- ed most. Dict I tell you that I saatd Archie 'Wells, he is only albout ten minutes walk from me, And I have quiet often seen the Jewitt boys. A couple of Toronto teach - ors are also near here.
