John Leith's horse on Tuesday morn
ing while he was driving toward the
Grand Trunk station where a freight
train was switching, It got frightened
and reared, falling dead. This horse
was in a railway accident a few years

across the O.P.R. when a light engine
came along and struck the buggy kill

The Temperance Hall was jammed
to the doors Thursday night for the
election of officers for the women's
branch of the Huron County War
Auxiliary. The following were elected
President; Mrs. Janes Hamilton; vice
Ptsident, 'Mrs, Phalen; Secretary,
Mies Leteueal. The executive commit-
tee consists of a delegate from each of
the different' ladies' societies in town.
After the officers were elected, Mies
Neelin, of Seafottb, and Mise McBride
of Belleville two returned nurses; told
of the neceseity offurther 'aid being
given them by way of more nurses and
supplies,
Robert Sharman, one of the pioneers
of Goderich, died at his home last
Thursday morning. Mr 'Sharman had
reached the "age of 88,' and came to.
Goderich over 00 years ago. He follow-
ed his trade as mason until a few
years ago. Ile is survived by his wife
and two sone, John and George, of
California, end one daughter, Mabel,
at home. ire was a member ofL, 0; L,
No. 182, and was until a few years ago
