Rev. W. E. Millson Seeks Better Know-

St Thomas, June 29,—Rev, W. E.
Millson, pastor of Grace Methodist
church here, in order to become better
acquainted with the railwaymen and
to get a better understanding of the
conditions under which the men have
to work, has made one round trip over
the Wabash Railway in the capacity of
fireman, and may decide to continue
the trips during his holidays. As is
customary with firemen on their initial
trip, a regular fireman was also on the
engine, but Mr. Millson was fully equip-
ped with overalls and gloves for work.
Mr. Millson Is Chairman of St, Thomas
District, and has been mentioned in con
mention with the appointment of Evan-
gelist for the London Conference.
Rev, Mr. 14111son is well known to all
the Methodist friends in Clinton and

SHE THE OMEN,
Mothers who keep a box of Baby's
Own Tablets in the house may feel
that the lives of their little ones are
reasomably safe during the hot weath-
er. Stomach troubles, cholera in -
[anthill and diarrhoea carry off thou-
sands of little ones every summer, in
most cases because the another does
not have a safe medicine at hand to
give promptly. Baby's Own Tablets
cure these troubles, or 1f given oc-
casionally to the well child will pre-
teni their coaling on. The Tablets
are guaranteed by a government an-
alyst to be absolutely harmless even
to the newborn babe. They are es-
pecially good in summer because they
regulate the bowels and keep the
stomach sweet and pure. They are
sold by medicine dealers or by mail
at 25 cents a box from The Dr. Wil-

HOT WATER PIPES
FREEZE HARDEST
Doubtless litany persons other than
plumbers have reached the conclus-
01011 that pipes carrying trot water
burst more frequently as a result of
freezing than do those that supply
cold water. Popular Mechanics de-
scribes how to determine the truth
of this opinion and explains the mat-
ter. A system of test tubes was ar-
ranged to parallel as neatly as pos-
sible conditions presented in the aver-
age water supply installation.. The
tubes were closed at one end, Sonne
of 111610 were filled with cold water
and others with water that had been
boiled, 4i the course of several ex-
perminents 44 of the tubes holding
boiled water burst, while only four
of the others bnike, The expl:t'ation
was found in the fact that while tap
water freezes more easily than b0i1-
ed wetter, it does not freeze so solidly
or exert so great a force in expand-
ing. Unboiled :•glee in freeienee pro-
duces ice that is filled with air bub-
bles and is slushy near the middle of
the tube, The bubbles and slush tend
to react against expansion,
