daughter. Cecil Mary to Elmore liar-
ris Senior, barrister at law, of Toron-
to, son of Mr. and Mrs, Joseph Senior,

take place quietly on the 23rd of June.

The new license inspector, Mr. El-
liott, of Stratford, who is acting as in-
spector of Perth County, as well as
Stratford, was specially commended by
the executive for the splendid work he
was doing in enforcing the Canada
Temperance Act throughout the county

The Princess Theatre had big crowds

Synod Meets in London.
The annual meeting of the Synod of
Huron is being held in London this
week, Those attending from here are
Rev. J. A'. Robinson, Rural Dean; Lieut, -
Col, Ranee and Mr, Jolut Ransfor'd.
A Successful Afternoon. •
The Girls Club of Willis church had a
successful lawn tea and bazaar at the
Manse grounds on Saturday afternoon,,
The proceeds of the tea went to the
Patriotic Fund.
A Trifle Cool.

Hu Cit Adopts Rods System
County • Council Holds Special
Session for the Purpose.
Goderich, June 19. —A special
meeting of Huron County Council was
held this afternoon to take up the
question and pass a by-law to adopt
the plan of the good roads system as
prOvlded by the Ontario Government,
Mr. Hoggarth, of Toronto, Was pres-
ent and full' explained the system and
its working as is dune in outer come-
, ties. Considerable discussion was in-
t dulg•ed in before the by-law was passed.
This will be forwarded to the Ontario
G:'vernntcnt ur approval, Some 330
miles of county roads were designated
to come under the new system, all of
then( main thoroughfares in the county,

A short while ago the Girls' Auxiliary
sent a small donation to (Apt. Fairfull
of the Mowatt Memorial hospital, King-
ston.. V, lilt this three Morris chairs
v, -ere purchased, each having a silver
plate hearing the inscription "Pre-
sented by `1,L.P.A., Clinton." When
Capt. Fairfull returned to the.. Hospital
after having sent asp the chairs he found
each occupied by a delighted Tommy
proof positive to the young ladies that
their gift was appreciated.
Police Protection.

toe damages will follow, without a
doubt, as autos, horses etc., wind in and
out on the main street, especially on a
Saturday night, and now that. the Banco
is playing out, the same thing will likely
nccur•r on those evenings. The Mayor
had better see that our police forte is
on duty tut' a few nights at the cross'rug
of litiron and Albert streets and see that
all rigs and cars keep to the right of the
street and tints avoid collision or other
serious trouble. Autoes travelling. at

Trying to Meet the Demand.
