Suffering From Gas Poisoning.
Mr, and Mrs, T. A, Greig, of town re-
ceived otlicial word bn Wednesday
morning that their youngest son, Corp.,
'Lawrence B. Greig, had been admitted
i to the General Hospital at Carriers,
France, on March 3rd, suffering iron,
gas poisoning. His many old friends
lit town will hope that no serious effects
follows the .poisoning. Pte, Will Greig
is at St. Leonard's -on -the -sea, at the
physical training depot,

Mrs, Thos. Holloway will sell her house-
hold effects on Saturday afternoon at
her home on Ontario Street. Mr. and
Mrs. A. J. Holloway will move to this
house shortly as it will be more central
for Mr. liolloway.on account of his coal
business.

Mr. E, G. Greig, son of Mr, W, E.
Grei*, Manager of the Ontario Branch
of the Massey-l-Iarrls Co., and a nephew
of Mr. T. A, Greig, and Mrs. T, Jackson
of town, gave a pint of blood to keep
Senator Sir Lyman Melvin Jones alive,
on Wednesday, The Senator has had
two transfusions of blood and is in a
critical condition.

rvice,
The funeral service of the late Mrs.
Pinning, were conducted last Thursday
afternoon, by Rew. W. L. Rutledge, D.
D., and interment was held at Clinton
cemetery. The pallbearers were nep-
I hews of the deceased: Messrs, Frank,
Prances, Charles and Renry Glew, Will
Cochrane and Carl Jones, of Seaforth;
Mrs. Aberhardt, of Seaforth, was also
here attending her aunt's funeral.

Obituary
Armstrong—Wheatley Wedding. ,
At Seaforth last Wednesday after-
noon by Rev. 1'. H, Larkin, Miss Mar-
garet, only daughter of the late William
Wheatley and Mrs. Wheatley, of town
Was united in marriage to Mr. Rainey
Armstrong, of Rosetown, Saske' The
young couple were attended by Miss
.Annie M. Armstrong, of Zurich, cousin
of the groom and Mr, Percy Wheatley,
brother of the bride. The bride was
married in her travelling suit of navy
blue cloth with which she wore white
furs. The bridesmaid wore a suit of
black velvet. On their return from
Seaforth the wedding supper was held
at which the immediate relatives were
present. The bride was the recipient
of Hatay very handsome gifts, the
groom's gift being a pretty wrist watch.
'1'o the bridesmaid the groom present-
ed a pretty pearl On and to the grooms-
man a tie pin. Mr. and Mrs. Armstrong
will leave on the 20th for their home at
Rosetown. in the meantime they will
visit their many relatives in the vicinity.

resident passed away at his home on
Isaac street on Friday of.last week. The
deceased had been in poor health for
some months past. He was 82 years 'and
7 months. ile was a faithful member of
Wesley Methodist church, when able to

held on Monday interment being trade
in the Goderich Cemetery.
Alexander Walker
On Saturday last Alexander Walker,
aged 66 years and 2 mouths, passed a-
way at the home of his brother-in-law,
Mr. Donald Snaith, Isaac street, after a
serious illness. The funeral was held
on Tuesday afternon interment being
made at Baird's cemetery, A fuller obit-
uary notice was expected for this week
but the copy had not arrived up to
press time.

ASSIZES THiS WEEK.
Only two civil cases are of the dock-
et for the sittings of the Supreme Court
of Ontario being field in Goderich this
week, commencing on Tuesday. One
of these is an action by Thomas J. Berry
the well-known horseman of Hensali,
against A. T. Cooper, of Clinton, for
libel, The plaintiff claims 85,000 dam-
ages. The alleged libel consists in
statements published in the London
Free Press and The London Advertiser
of August 29, 1916, which are said to
have been furnished to these papers by
the defendant and which were to the ef-
fect that the plaintiff was the propriet-
or of a "blind pig."
'rhe other civil case is from Wing-
hame Breckenridge v. Breckenridge et.
al., over the construction of a will, to be
tried without a jury.
There is one criminal case, that of
Ferdinand Desjardine, of Stephen town-
ship, charged with cupable homicide in
connection with tate death of his wife.
Mr. H. G. Tucker, of Owen Sound, is
bated as Crown prosecutor.

The grand jury brought iii a true bill
before Hon. Justice Middleton, against
F; Desjardine, of Grand Bend, that of
neglect it) not providing medical at-
tendance for this wife, who died last .Dec
ember, shortly Ater giving birth to a

day,

There is one criminal case, that of
Ferdinand Desjardine, of Stephen town-
ship, charged with cupable homicide in
connection with tate death of his wife.
Mr. H. G. Tucker, of Owen Sound, is
bated as Crown prosecutor.
