tion wars given to Pte, Patrick Nigh
on his arrival from overseas. The
depot and Main street were thronged
with cheering crowds of people from
the town and vicinity who 'came to ex-
tend a welcome to the returned hero,
.Pte, Nigh enlisted with the 33rd Bat-
talion and was .5 prisoner in Germany
for nearly two years. He was escort-
ed from the station to the town hall
where addresses were given by the
Mayor, Father Goetz and Colonel Wil-
son.
Rev,. 1I. D, Moyer, of London, who
is going to Seaforth July 1, was pleas-
antly surprised' at a meeting of the
members of the Adult Bible Class of
the Hyatt Avenue Methodist Church
last Friday evening, when he was pre-
sented with a handsome silver -mount-
ed umbrella. Mrs. Moyer was given a
piece of cut glass. .An address ex-

BRUSSELS
'rite first fire that Brussels has road
for several years occurred here about
5 o'clock last Wednesday evening,
when the large stables in connection
with the P. Anent factory were
totally. consumed and nothing but
the unceasing and untiring efforts of
a host of helpers prevented the sur-
rounding buildings, lumber piles, etc.,
from being burned.. The fire started'
from a spark from the factory smoke-
stack; while the boiler flues were be-
ing blown out. The loss will be in the
neighborhood of )3,000, with a small
insurance.
Crops all through this district are
in excellent shape and prospects are
bright for an excellent yield,

ed in the Presbyterian Church on Sun-
day by Rev, Dr. Fraser, of Owen
Sound. He was an overseas chaplain.
