VISITOR iN TOWN,

Beacom arrived in town, and was one
of the soldier boys who did not get a
reception, a 110 previous word had
beenrecived
• that he would be here.
Elmer joined up with the 33rd Battl,
in Jule, 1945, and after spending some
time in the army 'offices In England,
transferred to the 28th Battl. a Saskat-;
chewan battalion in the 6th brigade
and was"six months in the trenches. He
received a' bullet wound is, the right
ankle, on the 6th of November, when
he "went over the top" .at Passchan-1
dacie, and after medical treatment in:
England was sent back toCanada, ar-
riving in Toronto two weeks ago.
lie leaves thjs week for the Queen's
city where he will enter a military hos-
pital for further treatment. •
Elmer's many frends were glad to
welcome hint back to Clinton once
again.

A Lucky Escape.
While about her household duties,
MYs, Harry Twitchell, at Windsor last
Monday, received sa burning about the
face, owing to the gas igniting when
she opened the oven door, but her
many friends are glad to learn the
burns are not serious.

On Monday evening, Mr. George
David, Victoria Street, was stricken

friends will hope for a speedy recov-
ery.

this absolute rule there are a few ex-
ceptions with which the generality of
us have no personal concern. These
exceptions comprise cloistered nuns;
persons on active service belonging to
the military or naval forces; insane
persons and prisoners.
Thereis a registrar for each dis-
trict, and each district is divided in-
to registration divisions correspond-
ing, so far as may be, with the poll-
ing divisions in use at the last Do-
minion election.
The registrar of each district has
the services of a deputy registrar and
ane or more assistant deputy regis-
trars is appointed for each registra-
tion division in. the quotient of one
for every 420 of the population:
Each of these deputy regstrars is
to be competent and literate and one
who writes legibly and neatly. As.
not far short of 70,000 of such per-
sons will be required for the 'whole
Dominion.

Thenceforth the life of the re-
gistered person must be one with that

on demand to any peace officer, police
officer or constable. In particular, the
