dence. 127 Cartier Street, on Tuesday
evening after an illness extending over
the past three months. The late Mr.
Lawrence was born in Duren County
(0 years ago, and has resided in (11.
lima for the past 1 5 years. When he
came to Ottawa the late ,Mr, Laie,eience
started a business (lamed the Lawrence
Dairy Supply Company, Limited, and
which he had been Illanager

was of a quiet disposition, though he
had many friends while in Ottawa who
will regret to hear of his death. Ile
was a Methodist religion and atteud-
ed McLeod Street Methodist church. Ile

Lillian and Ethel at home and one sole
Signaller Rayneent E. Lawrence, at
present in England; also three. sisters,

State. The funeral will be held on

Brother-in-law Dead

ferenee to the death of a brother-in-
law of Air, D. A. Forrester, of eerie --

ury ago was one of the well known
residents of the village, The late
Mr, Thonii was born in Dallhousie
township, in the County of Laa(1rk in
1844, and when very young came
with the family to Fullerton Town-
ship. When he was 138418,4 years Of
age the family moved to Mitchell.
Ile and his brother James, under the
firm name of "J. & J, Thom", car-
ried on a dry- goods store in 33(1-
0 11 Main street, west of the
Royal hotel. In 1 373 he married
Annie, second daughter of the late
Andrew Forrester. She died in (4175,
When the firm dissolved partner-
ship he went West and after a short
stay hi Emerson he settled in Chic -
ego, where he remained for twelve
years. He then returned east and
resided in Toronto for twenty years.
Some three years ago he went to Wor-
cester, Mass, where his daughter, Mrs.
V, W, Carkee resided. On Sunday,
February 3rd, while sitting in his
chair hemorrhage of the brain occurr-
ed and he became u COnSCIOUS, . He
was Immediately taken to the hospital
but did not recover consciousness and
he died on Thursday. Mr, Thom was a
man of very kind and retiring dis-
position, a Presbyterian in religion
ancl a Liberal in politics, and highly
esteemed by' his acquaintanees. He
leaves two daughters to mourn the
loss of a loving fallen Mrs, Clarke,
of Worcester and Miss Bessie, who Is
at present visiting relatives is Mit-
chell. One brother, 'Charles, of New
York, and one sister, Maria, of Mit-
chell, survive, The remains were
brought to Mitchell to be laid beside
his wife, and the funeral took place
from the residence of Itis brother -in
law, Mr, Wee Forreser, to the Presby -
