Caoucks Not Afraid of Fritz
The following letter was received
by Mr. Wm. Harland from his grand
nephew, Gunner Harvey Harland,
son of Air.. P1111 Harland of Guelph.
It is interesting as it is so optimis-
tic and confident :
"France, April 81.11, 1015
Dear Uncle William,—
,lust thought I would drop a line
1,o my relatives In Clinton to let
them know I had not forgotten them.
About the only, Clinton news 1 re-
ceive is through dad after ha has
been up there on a trip. f. some-
times hear from Alma and Madelon.
In dad's last letter he said the
Clinton folks were not very well
which news J was very sorry to
hear and hope you have all improved
by now. I saw two Clinton boys a
short time ago, Andrew Steep and
Morgan; Agnew, and both looked
well. I haven't seen many of the
boys although I always , keep my
eyes Qpen for any one I know., Of
course most of them are in other
divisions and we never get a chance
to,see each other till we get out . of
action, which is very seldom f, r the
Canadians. Wo are counted by old
Fritz as the second best fighting un-
it in the British Army which means
'a great deal to 0 new colony like
Canada. Old Fritz is raising quite
a. row just now over here and I
guess the people in Canada and the
Old Country have got ,their wind up
but if they leave it to the boys in
France things will turn .out all right
I am sure. There is hound to be
hard lighting all summer and our
fellows can put it over f ritz in that
line any old day if there arc no
blunders made. Now we hr..te a
French general in command of the
Allied armies which is a good idea
I believe. We are hound to et11110
reverses but in the long run they
don't count. Old Fritz has taken
ground but his losses have been vet y
heavy and he can't hold the Paco
much longer I don't think. Well
news is getting a little scarce so
guess I'll close for now. Remember:
me to all friends and relatives in
Clinton.
