On March .1st the young people of
the Stanley Maple Leaf Patriotic So-
ciety, held a very successful enter
tainment in Baird's school -house. The
affair was favoured with ideal roads
and weather and at seven o'clock the
line-up for seats commenced and at
eight every seat was taken besides
ever available inch of standing
room. T'helav entitled, "Farm
P e
Folks” was a splendidly. rendered
sample of high drama,. embellished
between. the acts by selections of
sparkling vaudeville. The young
ladies of the locality sang one at a
time, two at a time and three at a
time and demonstrated to every-
one's satisfaction that they can sing

The play was produced in a manner
which upheld the reputation of the
Past performances under the same
auspices. The leading 'part of the
play was ably talcet by .Miss Erma
Diehl, who deserves great credit for
having undertaken it on short .)not-
ice. She received consistent support
from a large and varied caste from
which it would be diltib.ult to select
a star, although Miss Taylor and
Mr. Moffat were perhaps the best,
while Miss Mehwen and NIT. and Miss
Stewart handled, the comic parts in
a very able and entertaining manner.
Misses Alexander and Sinclair and
Messrs. Sinclair, McGregor and .Jack-
son took the' less important parts
very, creditably', NITS. Innes le to be
congratulated on the efficient man-
ner with which x115 handled the mus-
