ings during the past week.
MISS Bette Cools. was up from Tor-
onto during the holidayt'season vise
iting her parents, Mr. and- Mrs, T,
H. Cook of town, Miss Retta has
been taking vocal lessons since go-
ing to Toronto and on Christmas
Sunday she assisted the Wesley
church choir and, at the evening
service sang a sole very acceptably,
Messrs, Wm, Eagleson of Aberdeen,
South Dakota, aid Edmond Eagle-
son of Morse, Sask., who have been
visiting their parents, Mr, attd Mrs,
Wm., Eagle/mu of Reynold, were in
Clinton on .Saturday calling oa
friends. They had been spending a
day or so with Lucknow friends.
The former has a flurishing 'business
at Aberdeen, where quite a num-
ber of former residents of Clinton
and Moffitt? are located, and the
latter works e section or so of
land in Saskatchewan. Both have
done very well, indeed, in the great
world and one of the keenest pleas -

visit the father and mother at Hay-

shaw during Christmas week,
Mr. and Mrs, H. B. Ober and chil-
dren of Coaldale, Alta., who are
visiting in the east, spent New
Years with the lady's mother, Mrs.
John Layton of town.
Mr, and Mrs. W. J. Cantelon and
children of Maple Creek, Sask., are
spending a few weeks with rolativ-
ea here. They spent Christmas
with Mrs, Cantelon's ' parents at
Walton and are now the guests ot
Mr. and Mrs, D. Cantelon of town,
Mr. Cantelon has done well in the
wgst. He is now working four
hundred and eighty acres of land,
has it well improved and has tak-
en several good crops from it.
Mr. Adam Cantelon of Mtaple Creek
district, brother of Mr. Arthur
Cantelon, is here to spend a couple
of months. Er.. Cantelon has been
dealing in C.P.R. lauds for the past
dozen years or so and has done
very well. At one time a few
years ago It was said that he own-
ed twentyeight hundred acres of
land, which he had purchased at a
low price. He has since disposed
of most alit it at from twenty-five
to thirty dollars per acre.

audience in Knox church one evening

spiritual help, which is being sent through the mails to all the soldiers
in the forward trenches, who express a desire to receive it. The ap-

fact that, fn one division alone, and within one month after the issue
began, 15,000 soldiers asked that their names bo entered on t'he,"Pay,
book Leaflet" list—the leaflets being so named from the fact that they
are designed to fit into the soldiers' pay book.
