'Clinton, Dec, tt, tete. 1 Ro' T
To Mayor and Town Council,
Clinton, Ontario,
Ganllemen,—I beg to submit for
your information the report of the
Medical Officer. of Neaith Jor the Town
of Clinton during the past year.
We were particularly' fortunate dur-
ing the year •not to have any severe
epidemic visit us, Two cases of scarlet
fever, a mild attack of humps in the
early Summer chiefly affecting the
Collegiate pupils. One case of typhoid
fever is the list of cantagious diseases.
There were many complaints regard-
ing the sanitation of premises and out-
houses but after investigation by the
lnspector-,and- myself 'were. atnicably
arranged to all concereetl. Generally
;peaking- there is not sufficient care
taken to keep stores; shops. ,offices'
and surroundings clean atnd'tidy, much
could be done to improve"this condition
The trustees of the Public School
continue to adopt a policy. of "Wait
and See' as regards -the' construction
of a new School, when. notified that
the .Dept, of Education tor.. Ontario
purposes witltolding School. Grunts for
inaction. Then a burst' of enthusjasnn
much camouflaged asking for $75.000
(tont the rate -payers 'for a new school
is thrust upon us withmit getting estim-
ates or plans from an' architect does
not look genuine. •
It is not sufficient for us who are
going to be responsible for the Edu-
cation of the boys and girls who twenty
five years from now are to be the
leaders in the country. simply to Wait
and See.
Physical fitness of the future will be
based upon the standard measured for
Military Service. The examination of
ccrults for the recentWar showed a
lamentable condition as regards •t per-
fect physical man may of the 'defici-
encies could have been remedied while
boys at school by giving the boy a show
