2,320 SHAREHOLDERS
IN DEFUNCT .COMPANY
They Are Mostly In Small Amounts
From 8200 to $1,000
There are approximately 2,320 share-
holders registered on the lists nf. the
defunct Standard Reliance Mortgage
'Company,
Most of the sums are in three fig-
ures ranging from $200 to $1,000 al-
though there are some las high as
$6,000 but these are the exceptions.
The explanation is that a number of
smaller companies were, incorporated
with the Reliance Co. from time to
time and these small shareholders
were trap ferred to the larger, com-
pany. It is notable that they are
scattered all over the province. The
shareholders of the Dovercourt Land
Building and savings Company on the.
other hand are few in number and
most of them residents of Toronto,

Planning Scenie Highway From De.

ged In Big Summer Resort Idea.
r '
Goderich, June 15.—Plans now be-
ing worked out by the Goderich Cham-
ber of Commerce are expected ,to cul-
minate in a decision by the C, P, R. to
transfer its lake, passenger boat ter-
minal to Goderich; in the establishment
of an intercolonial scenic highway run-
ning front Detriot and Windsor along
Lakes St; Clair and Huron to Goderich,
and in the placing of Goderich in the
least as a summer resort for American
tourists in Canada. With the secur-
ing of the Lake Huron Steel Corpora-
tion for this town already to its erecta,
the Chamber of Commerce has every
prospect of success in its latest under-
taking's. .
No definite information is available
with regard to 'the transfer of the C.
P. R. terminal to this point, but it is
admitted there is somehing more ato,it
than a rumor. It would mean an out-
lay of several millions of docks and
shipping facilities, in addition to those
already planned for the town.
Boosting Scenic Highway
In connection with the scenic high-
way proposal, Mr, W. G. Coutts, of rhe
local Chamber of Commerce was in De-
troit and Windser yesterday seeking as-
sistance from the border cities and De-
triot chamber of Commerce,' He in-
terviewed Mr. F. Maclure Sanders, ' of
Windsor, and . other members of the
chamber there, and also spent, some
time in Detroit, where he interested
many in the plan. The proposed high-
way wofild run northwest from Wind-
sor along the Detroit River, Lake St.
Clair and Lake Huron to Goderich, a
distance of 120 miles, and would be
similar to the scenic ,route proposed to
run from Toronto to Niagara Falls, Buf-
falo and thence to 'Goderich. Assur-
ance of thec o -operation of the border
amen was given Mr. Coutts.
Mr. 0, E. Fleming, of Windsor, was
in Goderich to -day in connection with
the purchase•of a 500 -acre tract of
land just north of Goderich to be used
as the basis of,one of the finest, if not
the finest summer resorts in Canada.
Itis believed that Ridgeway Park, for-
merly the 'old Attrill estate, and more
recently the property of Mr. Fleming,
will be part of the resort. The whole
lake shore for miles north of the town
is ideal for such purposes, even up to
Point Farm, six miles north, which for
many years was, one of ;.the most pop-
ular summering spots in Ontario.
Free Press, London:—Dr, Jeff Wood,
who had three ribs broken on Wed-
nesday morning when a motor car in
which he was riding turned turtle
near Kippen, and who is at present in
St. Joseph's llospifal, spent a restless
night and yesterday repotted to be a-
bout in the same condition, •
in a motor car belonging to and
driven by Victor 'Jackson, 022 Queen's

Morning to attend a bowling tourna-
ment at'Clinton.
The crust on the road wiis very heavy
and the car was proceeding about :8
smiles an hon'. There was another car
in front of Jackspn's moving at a slow-
er rate, and Jackson decided that he
would pass it. Aiier successfully mak-
ing the pass and swerving to tate right
side of the roulette was startled to see
a horse and buggy 'corning toward him
on the wrong side of the road, he says.

Traffic Wilt Grow '
Prospects of greatly increased tourist
traffic figured primarily in the plans of
the iocel;chamber.
"l have great faith in the future of
the automobile . industry," said Mr.
Coutts." With the ever-increasing pro-
duction of automobiles the tourist traf-
fic is bound to increase to' a corres-
ponding degree, and we In Goderich
are out to seize this great opportunity.
Ninety per. cent of the people of the
•United States, Who a few years ago
knew nothing about Canada, are now
anxious to see this country. They
want scenic effects. We have them
here' and intend giving them an unrival-
ed scenic highway, ideal for the vlsiting
tourist,
Mr. Coutts made an effort to enlist
the co-op8ration of Windsor and De-
triot, just as the assistance of Buffalo
and Niagara Falls and Hamilton were
enlisted for the other proposed scenic
road. Upon the.outconie of Mr. Coutts'
visit to Detroit and the border cities
will depend to a targe extent the west-
ern portion of the proposed interna-
