recently returned from overseas,

erly a respected citizen of Clinton,
has been in town this week, being
a guestat the home of Mr. and
Mrs. J. G. Medd.
Rev. J. F. Parke of Southampton
was in town this week, liavting

riage of, his niece, Miss Alma C.
Elliott, on Tuesday.
Mrs. 11.. Junor, who has been in
town 'for the past week, visiting

with other friends, returned to her

part of her' vacation with friends
in Clinton and vicinity, left last

tends to take a course at the Col-
umbia University,
Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Nediger anotored
to Preston on Saturday and on
their return were accompanied, by
the former's sister, Mrs. J,V'arner of
Hamilton and Miss Thompson and
Miss Gamble. of.•rL3rantford, who are
holidaying at Bayfield.
Mr. Chris. Lowery of Medicine Flat
has been in town during the past
week looking after his mother's
property hore, Mr. Lowery has
heen in the west for several years,
being for some time located at Med-
icine Hat, Alberta; Fie is now set-
tling in the Okanaga Valley, 13,C,,
itis family having already gone on
there. His mother, who is with
another: son at North Bay, will
probably go on home with him on
his return.
IVIr. and Mrs. G. id Hall returned on
Tuesday from a trip to Vancouver,
B.C. They stopped oft on the way
outi to visit the, former's brother, at
Melville, Sasir., and called on Mr.
.James 'fucker, fortnerly of Clinton,
a membee of the firm of 'Pucker and
Hate, who have a prosperous clean-
ing and pressing business itt Saska-
toon. On the way home they

nesday of last week •
The marriage took place at the par-
sonage, Bayfield, at half . past three
oa Wednesday of last week of Miss
Janet P. Green to Mr. T. Clayton
Prouty of Exeter.
The young couple were unattended
and the ceremony was performed by
the Rev. E. L., Anderson, pastor of
the Methodist church.
The bride lookeu'very pretty, in
Tier wedding gown of white silk with
tatted lace trimming and wearing the
groom's gift, a gold wishbone broach
set with pearls.
After the ceremony the bridal par-
ty motored to the home of the
bride's sister, that of Mr. and Mrs,
D. N. Welsh, where the wedding
feast was served, and motored the
same evening to their own home near
Exeter.
Amongst the guests at the wedding
Were Mr. Cliff, and Miss Hazel
Prouty, brother and sister of the
groom, and Mrs. Glen or Clinton.

Mr. Leslie Jervis took in the ex-
cursion to Detroit Iast week, also
Mr, Wm, Bedour.
Mrs. Draper and Mrs. Gibson of
Detroit came over on the Greyhound
excursion and visited their parents,
Mr: and Mrs, Wm. Mulholland.
Mr. Ormand Alcock went over to
Detroit on tate return trip of the
boat where he intends to remain and
take a position.
The content- for church attendance
on Sunday evenings. in the Methodist
church, which is being handled by the
League members, commenced on Sun-
day last and is showing results al-
ready as -there was an increase of
fifty persons over the previous Sun-
day evening,
Rev. Mr. Fair of Toronto is the
guest at present of his daughter,
Mrs. (Rev.) J. Johnson, at the par-
sonage.
Rev. and Mrs. J. Johnson motored
to Aroma on Wednesday to attend
the wedding of the latter's brother.
Mr. Oscar-Tebbutt, who had the
misfortune to rupture a blood vessel
in his leg, is improving. and 11 is, Hop-
ed it will soon be entirely healed.
Quite a number are taking in Lon-
don Fair this week, among others :
Mr. and Mrs. J. Schwanz and Mr.
and Mrs. A. Jervis,
Mr, and Mrs. J. D. Burnes spent a
few days at Toronto exhibition last
week.
Hullett Township
Mr. Thomas McMichael; .one of FIul-
lett's best known horsemen, goes to
Haldimand, Oxford, 'Lambton and
Essex counties next week as govern-
ment judge of .horses at the fall
fairs. He will also judge at • Wood-
stock, Burford and Wheatley fairs,
and 'will be absent about three
weeks. Mr. McMichael was down in
Heidi/nand county last year and
gave such good satisfaction that he
is going again, Fie is a pretty good
judge of a horse.
Mr. Clarence Blake of Detroit is
holidaying at hoarse.
• Mr. H. A. Adams of Windsor has
returned to his home after spending
a few days with his cousin, Mr,
Henry Adams.
Mr. and Mrs. Henry Adams re-
turned last week after; spending a
fortnight with friends at Toronto,
Niagara, Brampton and Georgetown.

What is supposed to he a wild man
is said to be roaming in the woods
near Lucknow. Ile has been seen by
many -persons and a few days ago a
party was organized to make a thor-
ough search for hire but to date no
trace of him has been foetid, It Is
supposed that he is demented and
has escaped from those in charge of
hint. Since the above was written a
luau who Is supposed to be the one
seen, has been captured and returned
to Goderich jail,
